Women, how important is a guy's clothes?

where I'm at now, I don't have a lot of money to spend on clothes but I'm gradually building up my wardrobe.

right now I wear black t-shirts and either adidas sweatpants or levi jeans and nike sneakers.

i don't wear ghetto clothes or anything flamboyant like ed hardy if that's a plus.

if a guy wore basic clothes like this and started a conversation with you, would you immediately find it a turnoff.

i also say this because I'm not in the best of shape, and t-shirts are much more flattering on people with muscular bodies.

that is almost every college guys wardrobe unless he is into the preppy thing. you can easily slay the poon wearing that outfit.



2 things of advice -

1) sweats are for sleeping/housewear or working out, not going out in public.

2) also have some nicer things that fit you - a cheaper button up shirt that has been properly tailored/fitted will make you look better than an expensive shirt that doesn't quite fit right. have some business casual type of dressy clothes - black dress shoes, dress socks, black dress pants, nice appropriate belt and 1-3 shirts to go with that will get you almost anywhere...maybe get a tie

There are 3 important things about the clothes:

- To fit you (neither bigger or smaller)

- To be clean

- To feel natural in them (like if you have a job as a ranger you won't feel quite well in a black suit).

Not wearing Ghetto clothes and Ed Hardy is a plus for me. I never ever judged people because of their clothes. Only stupid people do so. Don't worry nobody works in the Fashion police these days. Just be yourself, have your style and don't try to comply with what everybody's wearing.

That's alright but I do hope you continue to build up your wardrobe. And work out as well.

I wouldn't be put off by it but I would hope he has more in his closet than black/white t-shirts.

It's nice to know that a guy can dress himself well.

I couldn't care less... as long as he isn't wearing this link there is no problem, personally clothes and shoes etc. isn't really important to me in any way.. I dress for comfort more than anything myself..:)

I don't care how much his clothing costs, so long as it's decent, clean and presentable for the occasion. I like casual, fresh and comfy for the most part on a daily basis.

I dislike baggy clothes, that looks like he's swimming in there.. (That's a turn off)

It gives off a rather sloppy, thuggish or gang member appearance.

Clothes are materialistic. They mean barely anything to me. As long as you look clean, and comfortable I could care less. "t-shirts are more flattering on muscular bodies" SAYS WHO?. Wear what the hell you want the stores don't directly say "Muscular bodies only". And to be honest you can find great clothes in thrift shops if you're low on cash. Huge labels/ name brands are sold for half price inside. But bottom line is, as long as you don't look like a homeless man you are fine with me.

It's pretty important. Your description of your clothes are OK. Not bad but not really good either. So they wouldn't give you any added bonus points for style but you wouldn't get any knocked off for being bummy either. At least you're wearing name brand. this gonna sound shallow but idgaf, I wouldn't talk to a guy wearing off brand clothes.

I will be honest if you don't dress good you have to be more good looking either facially or bodily to make up for it

I really don't care. Guys can wear jeans and a t-shirt every day and I'm cool with it. As long as it's not like...ghetto or biker or something it's not a turn off.

No way! I don't really care what a guy wears. And personally, I like casual guys, I don't really like a guy in a suit, or in big, name brand clothing... I like a guy who care's more for his girl, than his looks and clothing! ;)

but I mean first impression. like if a guy were to talk to randomly meet you, and you saw he was wearing sweatpants, sneakers and a generic blank t-shirt, would you see it as a turnoff. especially if you were better dressed than that

No, that's what I mean, the second I see him and his casual outfit, I'd know that he cares more about his true self than what doesn't matter at all on the outside
