Why didn't "iron" Mike Tyson ever fight Eric Esch "butterbean"?

i just think this fight wouldve been nothing but fire works with both boxers have lightning quick punches and massive punching power. "butter bean" the king of the 4 rounders and "iron" mike tyson being able to have numerous 1st round kos. why do you think they never fought? they were both in the same era and year, making their debuts in the 90s. both heavy weights. personally id put my next pay check on eric esch. now of course theyre too old to be doing anymore boxing. just theoretically. for the boxing fans of gag

Tyson would easily take Butterbean. Butterbean was a 4-round show, and he never faced up against someone that had such a dangerous blend of power and speed. Tyson could dodge punches, and could even take a fair amount of hits as well.

Butterbean, in his prime, would MAYBE hit $25,000 a fight. This is just a testament to the type of fighter he was. It was interesting to see if someone could take him out, but I don't think he was on nearly the same level as Tyson was in his prime. Tyson took out guys bigger than him. Butterbean being a fat guy doesn't mean anything. You can be the biggest guy in the ring but if you can't use your body as a weapon, then the guy who can (Tyson) will come out on top.

It's a common mistake that many make to assume the bigger guy is the more dominant one. Tyson > Butterbean in 5 rounds or less.

well id concede to say if eric didn't take tyson out by the 4th than id say tyson being the better conditioned man would take it, providing he didn't get smashed by eric in the first 4 rounds. eric boxing record is also more prominent. having around 20 more wins than tyson.

Dude, it wouldn't be a fight worth watching, I can tell you that lol. Butterbean was a novelty and never had near the success that Tyson did with his sheer talent alone, simply because Tyson was an amazing fighter. Tyson is 5'10" and took out guys bigger than him on more than a few occasions.

Butterbean relied on power behind his punches. But just flailing out punches is nowhere near close to what you need to win a boxing match, let alone against Tyson.

And if you count middle aged guys with a bunch of kids at home as "well conditioned fighters", then sure Butterbean is the best at taking them out lol

Butterbean was a novelty fighter that knocked out bums. Tyson could do more than just punch real hard. With Tyson's footwork and incredible head movement, Bean wouldn't have laid a hand on him.

Butterbean sucked. Zero talent and fought nothing but d level guys and even a lot of them were paid to take a dive. Tyson fought b and c level talent mostly who were afraid of him. Holyfield and buster Douglas destroyed him because they had skill and weren't scared.

The best fight would have been Morrison vs Tyson for pure entertainment. Tyson would have knocked out butterbean in the first round
