What paranormal experience have you ever had?

The first house I lived in was haunted.


I was too young to know what ghosts were, but one day I saw an old woman standing in our kitchen facing the oven.


I assumed my mother had invited her in and I simply hadn’t heard the door.


I went into the kitchen to say hello to her. I got about half way to the oven when she turned around, scowled at me and said “No children in the kitchen!” In a very angry tone.


I ran screaming back to my mother. My mother was very freaked out because she couldn’t see anybody there.


She told my father about it and he said I was just hallucinating. I was very frustrated by this.


The old woman would show up from time to time and I had learned to just avoid the kitchen when she was around.


However, one day I really needed to pee and the only way to the bathroom was to walk through the kitchen…but she was there.


I decided I had had enough of being afraid in my own house and marched straight into the kitchen towards the mean old lady.


Again, she turned, scowled and said “no children in the kitchen!”


I screamed “I live here!”


She said “you little brat!” And raised her hand to hit me.


At that moment, our german shepherd landed in front of me and began viscously barking and snarling at her.


She looked back and forth between me and the dog with a stunned look on her face, then she huffed and angrily walked out of the kitchen towards where the laundry room was.


I hugged the dog and turned around to see my mother sitting on the couch pale, eyes wide and mouth open.


From that day on, the dog would block the kitchen doorway if the old woman was there. And he would growl when she moved.


My mother believed me, but now my father thought we were both crazy.


Until one night my father had gone to take a shower after work as he always did. The water stopped sooner and more violently than normal and he soon came running from the bathroom barely able to hold a towel.


He was pale, shaking and panting.


He said “I’m sorry, I’m sorry to both of you. We’re moving,”


As my father was finishing rinsing off, the old woman walked out of the shower wall, walked straight through him and then through the wall that led to the kitchen.


Even though he was soaking wet, all of the hair on his body was standing straight up.

I could take you back to that house and show you everything down to the crumbling family cemetery in the backyard. But I can’t promise you’ll see the old woman.

It took my father over a year to finally see her himself and he lived there.

My mother is writing a book and she included her perspective of those frightening events.

When the book is published, I’ll send you a link.

Old house, stereotypical "haunted" vibe, a lot of maintenance issues. It sounds like you were having some kind of dreams, false memories or possibly even hallucinations which could've been caused by a number of psychological issues or perhaps due to the state of the house itself. Damp, mould, mildew, bugs etc all give off a chemical signature which can actually cause the sort of visions you describe. It is part direct stimulant and part imagination. As for your father, same explanation with some psychological contagion from you and your mother thrown in.

This explanation or that you plain made the whole thing up are both much more likely explanations than there actually being a supernatural haunting going on.

My family and I know what happened in that house and all of us continue to talk about it to this day.

Everyone is desperate to be a scientist on these matters when they have 0 personal experience with such unexplainable events.

The human mind is malleable. Environmental influences are real. You may think you know what happened, but you're probably lying. Not just to me but likely to yourself. This story could be masking some sort of childhood trauma. In reality, there are simply more likely explanations than the supernatural. That is just a fact. It is a known fact that mould and other forms of toxicity can cause severe psychosis and hallucinations. Hallucinations, apophenia, lying, suggestive pareidolia and other types of psychological contagion are all real things which have been observed by science and matched to different situations many times over. Supernatural events are not. This is how we determine what is more likely to have occurred between your story and rational explanation.

My closest is in dreams We know that a dream can be real, but who ever thought that reality could be a dream? We exist, of course, but how, in what way? As we believe, as flesh-and-blood human beings, or are we simply parts of someone’s feverish, complicated nightmare? Think about it, and then ask yourself, do you live here, in this country, in this world, or do you live, instead in The Twilight Zone?

Only now it dawns me that maybe there's a connection. If not even a conspiracy 😎
