Are there any Irish people on this site who know anything about Banshees?

So earlier this year, I saw a Banshee in a dream. The very next day, my mom went to the hospital with kidney stones, and they ended up finding a bunch of other shit wrong with her. Long story short, she used to have two kidneys now she only has one, and the one isn't functioning like it's supposed to. You see where I'm going this.

My background is Polish. I did have one distant relative who was Irish from my dad's side, but the amount of Irish blood I have in me is miniscule. I've never felt Irish in anyway or felt any connection to Ireland. I'm interested in Irish music, people and folklore, but that's about it.

I did some digging online and found that Banshees allegedly only appear to people of pure Irish decent, and I don't know of any Polish equivalent. I'm 100% certain it was a Banshee, but why would one appear to me if I'm not Irish?

Is it simply a weird coincidence that the very next day after I saw a Banshee my mom ended up in the hospital with Kidney issues?

Is it relevant that the Banshee appeared to me in a dream? It was a while ago so the details are little fuzzy, but she was white and semi-translucent and she was floating in front of me, and made the screeching sound. And I was either inside a castle, or some kind of abbey.

I haven't seen her since that time. How long after you see one does the family member usually die?

Am I just being paranoid and superstitious?

PLEASE HELP! I would prefer to hear from an Irish person who is informed on the subject.

Celtic culture has a few women associated with approaching death, the irish banshee, the welsh cyhyraeth , Scottish caoineag and Bean-nighe and the lady in white. To name a few.

It's likely you've picked up on them through stories, films etc and under the emotional stress your under your brain has conjured one up in a dream.

My point is these things trickle into the worldwide consciousness even if you're not familiar with the celtic culture. I don't believe they are physically real but the stories can play on peoples minds when under stress.

Yes, I'm descended from 100% Gaelic/Celtic families in the North of Ireland, one of my grandparents family strongly believed in the Banshee and many younger relatives still do.

The Banshee stories I heard were mostly of sound warnings, screams or crying prior to the death of a close relative. However in cases of visual warnings where you see something, I recall only one such incident and the person in question didn't die, he did have a serious accident/injury, but lived a long life afterwards.

Local folklore suggests the Banshee follows family surnames the begin with Mc or O', however I'm not sure about this.

Holy shit! That's exactly what happened to me. That's somewhat reassuring. I still don't know why one would appear to me though if I'm not Irish. I don't know the last name of my distant Irish ancestor. I'm wondering if O' and Mac is the equivalent of Icz and Ski.

The seeing one when I'm not Irish, is the only part I can't explain.
