Why do Christian Armenians exclude me even though I am a Muslim Armenian?

I was an atheist before, then I researched Islam and became a Muslim. I feel excluded as if I did something bad. what's wrong with them

Because Armenia has a strong history of defending against Muslim takeover as Islam expanded in that part of the world. Most Armenians are devoutly Christian and they know their county's and ethnicity's past - like the Armenian Genocide by the Turks about 100 years ago. Armenia's history with Christianity goes back to the dawn of Christianity itself. Armenia is surrounded by Islamic nations to the west (Turkey), south (Iran), Azerbaijan (southwest AND east) - nations that have historically been hostile to the Christian Armenians. So, Armenians are going to be strongly cohesive both about being Armenian and Christian.

This is one of the reasons that there is a problem between Armenia and the Islamic nation of Azerbaijan; Azerbaijan has a region called Nagorno-Karabakh which is part of (Islam-dominant) Azerbaijan but has a majority of ethnic Armenians (who are predominantly Christian. Armenia calls this place "Artsak" and it is a de facto independent nation, legally a part of Azerbaijan, but deeply connected with Armenia.

As for you, well, yeah, you are now the black sheep of the family, so to speak. You converted to the enemy religion of Islam. In many places in the world, this might not be a problem, but with Islam's history of hostility towards (the overwhelmingly Christian) Armenians, you are not exactly welcomed anymore.

So, yes, from their perspective, you are "excluded as if you did something bad".

You should have thought of that before converting.

Well, you are pretty close to Armenia... in that part of Turkey that the Turks took from Armenia during the Turkish-Armenian War of 1920. That's pretty much where the Armenian Genocide took place.

You may be a Turk by nationality, but you are an Armenian by ethnicity. Given what the Turks did to the Armenians, the Armenians don't care for the Turks and the Turks aren't too fond of the Armenians which is why they tried to wipe them out.

So, by you becoming Muslim, you are forsaking your (Christian) Armenian heritage. You are now an outcast among Christian Armenians.
