I wonder... how do people view the atomic bombing of Japan... especially Japanese viewpoint.

Why?

Because from a USA perspective... without those bombings, we would have had to send in a million plus soldiers into mainland Japan to over take the military and get to the emperor. If you know the mess of Okinawa and Iwo Jima... one can only imagine. They did not want to surrender and Japanese soldiers would fight to the last man... they were serving their "god" at that time and shaming the emperor and family was worse than death. The toll would have been high and long until someone convinced a surrender.

In Japan... the reality of " the bomb" would have been awful. One can only imagine.

And so one wonders the perspective... because humanity is always faced with..."is it worth it" "did we do the right thing... to bring an end"?

The bombs were largely used against civilians... 129000 to 226,000 people died... instantly. Carpet bombing prior had cost up to 330,000 lives.

Bonus history: Albert Einstein, whom started the idea rolling with "E=Mc2" figured out a small amount of material can produce a lot of energy... met the emperor of Japan decades before WWII!

Bonus history II: A distant relative of mine was killed by a Japanese aircraft bomb in mainland China. May she rest in peace.

All is good... the lesson to me is... humans need to think, because all of this was unnecessary wasn't it? We are much better working together cooperatively.

Be honest with yourselves, the last time our country was invaded by a foreign country was in the 1700’s when the British fought us here which eventually led to the US being established in 1775.


People think we cannot be invaded due to our geographical position… this is false. If people think we are the only country with a Navy, with Naval air carriers etc. think again.


That being said, if we get invaded…. Are you prepared?

A major criticism of the Ukrainian side on the onset of the Russo-Ukranian War was that while women and children were free to leave the country, military aged men (18-58) were prevented from doing so. They were drafted into regular units (if relatively young) and territorial army (TA) if on the older side. As a result tens of thousands of men have died in a war they didn't want to fight.

Now as manpower and western support is drying up, the Ukrainians might be drafting women to go fight. Do you think it's fair? - I personally think that it's completely fair that if you have equal rights as a man, you should have equal responsibilities. So it's either neither gender fights or both do.
