What is something other people will never understand unless they’re apart of it?

Military life. Being in.


I think with movies and other forms of media I’ve came across so many people that have never served in the military that either think they know what it’s like or they have a lot of questions about it.


In retrospect, after my time of service I definitely am a different man before and after. For better or worse.

Military life, easy. Unless you actually wear the uniform and invest in being part of something bigger than you, ie the development of your unit and fellow men, countless hours training to be the best and win the fight when called upon, the sacrifice of time and family, the potential trial of dying.

Yeah, there is a reason why less than 1% will ever understand the life and can actually do it. Which is why it gets annoying hearing people backseat quarterback being a soldier when they haven't done it or trash talk them. Ignorance truly is bliss

Hustling out of struggles, I see many people judge hustles that people do out of struggles because they have never experienced such a low point in their lives that they had to rely on desperate measures to be able to survive, if getting jobs was as easy and fast as it's said, I don't believe anyone would struggle.

1# Someone close to you dying and it being your fault. Or worse the former being the case on top of you being the one to find them.

Anyone who has never experienced that will never genuinely understand what that's like nor the guilt that follows or the fact that it will always haunt you.

2# I would also say genuine struggle a lot of people know what that's like but a lot also don't know what it's like to always worrying whether or not your gonna be able to pay your house payment or having to choose which bills you pay and which you don't. Or living in a ghetto with broad daylight robberies and dangerous drug dealers living on your block.

3# fighting

You'd be surprised by the amount of people who have never been in a single fight in their entire lives, never been punched in the face once. It's not like the movies it's not pretty nor choregraphed it's chaotic and violent and there's a lot of pain involved.

2 things come to my mind

1) Porn: I guess many people already know that majority of 10 minute videos can take upto an hour to shoot.. Behind the scenes , lot of things are so different from what people think

2) Fighting: Similar to what you said , movies and people who are not into some forms of fighting have no idea about it... a little girl/guy beating up 10 men is more of a fantasy
