I am trying to collect data on what kinds of people this happens to. I'd really appreciate you sharing any short or long details about your demographic/ personality/how you were brought up/dating experiences.

I don't know if I am just hyper aware of how people are, but I feel like often people already know very early on if a man or woman is full of crap or not, and I don't ignore red flags like some people do. Maybe not in 5 minutes but after a full 12 hours of conversation, I think it is about as clear as day, at least for me. I know some people actually "try" to believe lies are the truth, and then it becomes truth in their minds. Sometimes it is because of loneliness. Sometimes it is because the words sound so sweet. Sometimes the person is just so physically attractive. I am wondering in how many scenarios there are where adults genuinely had no clue until way later.

I feel like this might happen more for introverts, maybe only children, people who lack dating experience, and basically people who do not interact as much. Then again, I could be wrong. Maybe some extroverts are too friendly and see the best in too many people.

Just looking for honest stories/experiences. No judgment here.

So backstory: I work in a shop and this woman has been trying to set me up with her nephew for years, I’ve always said no because I genuinely wasn’t looking but when she asked last week I was curious so I asked a bit about him and he seems like a great guy, I said no to her setting us up mostly because she wanted to bring him to the shop and 1 I’m literally working and 2 I think it’d be awkward for the both of us to talk in front of his aunt and my mom, but I did follow him on Instagram and he followed me back. Now I’m thinking about DMing first since I think he’s on the shy side but I’ve no idea on what to say since we’ve never spoken before and tbh I’m kinda shy too so I’m really nervous, also I have no clue if his aunt mentioned me and that’s why he followed back
