So in my small town, there’s a field area where people can pop fireworks and watch the firework show at the same time.

I get in a big empty circle space to pop fireworks. NOW, there’s a family parked about 10 yards next to me and a truck parked about 30-35 yards in front of me. With a big space in the middle for me to pop fireworks 💥.

I light 2 rockets 🚀 that flew mid air and popped all over mid air. The family next to me and I were laughing 😆 and cheering. Till a woman in front of us (35- yards) yells out: “you do realize we’re right here in front of you! 😠”

...🤨 I respond with “I didn’t know it was flying towards you!” (Which of course it didn’t). Then I invited the family next to me if they wanted to pop fireworks, just to have fun. The kids were excited and each popped one.

But the girl in the truck kept eyeing me and I was still popping the big fireworks 🎆 in the air.

Till she marches up to me 😠: “excuse me, you’re popping fireworks.” Me: “yeah, it’s Fourth of July.” Girl: “Could you please pop them more to your left? Cause the ashes are getting on our truck.” Me: “okay fine.” Girl: “cause I don’t want to be that person.” Me thinking: “you already are”

So I popped the fireworks a little to left like she wanted. But was still eye balling all pissed 😠.

Wooo I was still standing my ground all confident 😎. Just don’t like feeling restricted from doing something.

Somewhere I read that a woman should keep it serious whenever someone lightly insults them (whether playfully or not playfully) and wear a straight face instead of laughing along with it / playing it off.

I definitely think this will gain the person more respect but I'm not sure whether one will come off as sexy-confident or too serious. On a scale of self-deprecating (1) to self-assured (10), how confident do you like your mate to be? Also how tolerant do you like them to be?

Real-life example: I had poofy hair at some point in my life and one of my male friends joked about turning me upside-down and using me as a mop. I laughed and playfully hit him. How should I have reacted?

My parents, my gamer friend and the last guy I “dated” have all had success with dating apps. My parents are older and heavier than me, my dad tends to attract good looking women. My mom met her long term partner on a dating app and says that if she was single, she probably wouldn’t have an issue using them. Quote, she says it’s because she isn’t worried with making the first move to approach guys. I told her that I did message first here and there but still didn’t help the situation.

My gamer friend is older than me but says that he thinks a lot of people on dating apps are looking for something long term. I don’t find him good looking but he is friendly and confident (maybe a bit on the conceited side). My “ex” is not attractive but he has a good sense of humor and is friendly too.

I’m reserved but I don’t think that makes a difference, a lot of quiet people have found their match. I know I’m not beautiful but I know I’m better looking than all the people I just mentioned and still fail with finding the right one. What’s the issue here?
