Search Results: getting a guy more into a relationship

Many young users post "questions" that are actually rants about why they will never get married. They see so many failed marriages and ask "why should I make the same mistake?" It is a good question but they have chosen what I believe is the wrong answer.

There are certainly many failed marriages. I think marriages fail for a few simple reasons:

1. People choose the wrong partner. The marry the first person with whom they fall in love, on the assumption that love is what it takes to make a marriage work. Bad assumption! It takes more. Who should you marry?

2. People have unrealistic expectations. Getting married is not like going to an ice cream social every day. Every relationship will experience conflict. Every relationship will require compromise. Every relationship will require that you keep your mouth closed and not say every smart ass comment that comes into your mind. It is very helpful if you are capable of saying "I was wrong." Every relationship will require sacrifice. If you do what it takes to make marriage work, the rewards are very much worth the effort. but some people just don't want to work on a marriage. They have the "if it's broke, throw it away and replace it" mentality.

3. Some people are not well suited for marriage. Maybe you just aren't ready. . . yet. When Should You Get Married? If you are incapable of focusing on someone else's needs as mush as your own needs, you may not be a good candidate for marriage. When The Preacher Talks About "The Two Become One. . ." blah, blah, blah! If you are 28 and still spend most of your free time on gaming, you aren't ready for marriage. If you are 25 and think that someone should take you out to dinner every night of the week, you aren't ready for marriage.

That's what I think about failed marriages. What are your thoughts? If you have been married and it failed, what happened? Did marriage fail you, or did you and your partner fail each other?
