I've just never really been into romantic gestures. I went on a date with this guy a little bit ago, I didn't really like him much, I didn't dislike him, I just didn't know him very well because he was pretty quiet. And the date went alright, only he kept talking about how he just wants to treat me to special things, and treat me well. And he did not get a second date. It just freaked me out, like I don't like things being paid for for me, and I don't like sweet talk. ESPECIALLY not sweet talk. I had a guy write me a poem and I really DID like him, I was dating this guy, and I panicked, didn't know what to say, and it all around just made me feel super awkward.

That's not to say I don't want a guy who treats me badly. And I am affectionate and stuff, like I like hand holding, and I like hugs, and cuddles. I just don't like too much verbal expression or things that cost money. Like to me, the PERFECT date would be just walking around a park, maybe hanging by the lake and just basically chilling. Meanwhile my friend has this super romantic guy she's dating and like I legitimately think they're wonderful and sweet, but like, for me, it'd NEVER work. I'm over here crushing on a guy who works as an auto mechanic, and doesn't seem to have a romantic bone in his body. Which my friends don't get. They're always like "You like... him? I mean... he's cute... but..."

And it's not like this guy has any bad habits, he doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, isn't some ladies man. He's just the type of guy who doesn't really seem to grasp romance.

I was out with my boyfriend and our friend who recently broke up with her boyfriend (who happens to be my boyfriend's best friend). And my friend said her ex didn't want her back because of her body (even though she has a perfect body) and my boyfriend said he must be gay if he didn't want her back because of that! She also went on to say she was unattractive (even though she isn't at all!) and my boyfriend said she was very attractive. I think they were flirting, but I'm not very sure. they've been friends for ages (years longer than I've know my boyfriend) and I can tell that she likes him and I know that he would date her if he wasn't in love with me and she wasn't his best friend's ex because they get on a lot better than I do with him. So what I'm asking is if it was wrong for him to say those things? And if it was what should I do? Please help!
