    #2 is actually not always correct. Often times it isn't thoughts that cause shy people to freeze up. Most of the time the shy person draws a complete blank. It is almost like a physical symptom manifesting from a subconscious feeling. Fear is usually a feeling as well.

    You can monitor your feelings, just as you can watch and monitor your thoughts. That is a good start. However, it isn't good to try and judge or stop yourself from thinking or feeling a certain way. It is much better just to be mindful, put yourself in more uncomfortable situations, even if it is only a slightly uncomfortable one at first, and keep gradually pushing through.
