It ticks me off that my stepfather has some surprisingly old-fashioned and often ridiculous views about the world in 2023, and to make things worse, he's not even a boomer; he's literally Gen X.

Last night my younger, preteen brother was playing a game in their room where they sleep (right next to mine), and his father (my stepfather) was reminding him several times that it was time for bed, but then there were a few more things they were talking about. My brother and his dad were having a heated discussion about money; Dad was telling him that it's rude to ask his friends how much money they make. He literally said he doesn't agree, and Dad cringed and got pissed.

Then I was looking at these TikTok videos about salary and stuff and they all seem to be on point with what I am trying to say on here. I forgot that companies are lowkey racist and sexist due to the wage gap?

How do people justify buying high-ticket items? Like fast exotic cars? Why manufacturers set high MSRPs for their luxury cars? It's pretty fucking stupid for some owner to say, "it's none of your business."

My stepdad says he's not a Trump supporter, but he sure acts like one. In fact HE WANTS to be like Trump. (I'm not a Biden supporter; in fact I voted for Trump too, but I am flat-out embarrassed at how my fellow voters have become. I might vote for Biden in 2024 just to piss off my Armenian family. I'm literally the only Armenian I know in my family tree that doesn't fall for this tabloid/podcast shill shit.)

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might have violated House rules with Met Gala gifts, watchdog says

A congressional watchdog says Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might have violated House rules when she received gifts associated with her attendance at a prestigious fashion event in 2021.

The Office of Congressional Ethics recommended the House ethics committee continue investigating an allegation against the New York Democrat “because there is substantial reason to believe that she accepted impermissible gifts” associated with the Met Gala, according to a release Thursday from the agency.

In 2021, Ocasio-Cortez attended one of the fashion world's biggest nights at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a Brother Vellies white dress with "Tax the Rich" written in large red letters on the backside.

Ocasio-Cortez was provided with the dress, a handbag, shoes and jewelry for the event, according to a report from the Office of Congressional Ethics. She also received hair, makeup and transportation services as well as the use of a hotel room for the event.

The review said Ocasio-Cortez paid for the items, including the rental value of the dress, only after the watchdog office started its review. Investigators said that if the office hadn’t opened the inquiry, “it appears that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez may not have paid for several thousands of dollars’ worth of goods and services provided to her.”
