Suppose a man joins a terrorist group, in some part of the world.
He is tasked with the job of going from house to house and killing children, unless the children's parents were to give him money. He acquires money through that means, though often far exceeding the amount of money he needs for basic sustenance and accommodation.
Would you say that he is a bad person for committing such an atrocity? I would say yes.

Now, you have been wanting to get yourself a particular thing for awhile (PS4, television, computer, whatever). However, you are fully aware of the fact that donating to charities can help save children in another nation across the globe (not necessarily linking to the location of the first paragraph hypothetical), the charities help to combat deadly diseases such as Malaria. You choose not to do so, as many people do not, and buy the item you're eager to get instead.
Does that make you better than the child killer? By saving your own personal luxuries, you costed the lives of children you could've saved.
Society in general holds this mentality, is it deplorable? Are we any better than the terrorist who killed children for a living?
