As many others, I don't think there's such thing as a totally peaceful country, unless we're talking about Canada, of course. They apologize if you hit them :)

The Global Peace Index did a great job and now we can know how peaceful or badass a country is. So let's get started:

By the way, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but Canada is not the most peaceful one :( I bet they got super agressive when they found out someone like Justin Bieber is representing them D: poor Canadians.

The hotties, (the weather is hot, got it? haha, no? okay :( ) the kangaroos, the amazing places to visit, the great Australia have it all. Also, did you know there are more kangaroos than humans in there? An australian told me the ratio is around 1:2, but I don't know, they said the kangaroo population decreased a lot :/

Peaceful asf. To be honest, I was surprised, I didn't know how peaceful these guys were, so I was shocked when I saw them in the list. The child porn thing surely made me think differently about this country, but okay, they're peaceful lol

7. Canada

Here they are. I wasn't surprised at all, they're very kind people. I've met many and I have no negative thoughts about them. There was this man who was hitting on my mom once, he invited us dinner at his place and we found some people living with him. He saw them on the road and he took them home. 2 men and 1 girl, the girl made dinner and everything was great. He trusted all of us without knowing us. Days after, the guys living in his house took his alcohol and left lol. Trusting is not that good XD

6. Finland

If you're well educated, you probably will be peaceful, because you know nothing good comes from fighting over nonsense. So yeah, makes sense. Well deserved, Finland. A finnish/spanish friend told me he liked school, and I was like "are you serious?", so he answered "Finnish schools are awesome". That's when I understood loving school is possible.

The once most peaceful nation is now in the fourth place. I don't many people of them but this new zealander lady who married a mexican man is one of the nicest people I've met. Such a good mother and nice human overall.

Really? I have to take a look at this country list:
10. Czech Republic: When it was part of Austria-Hungary, or had the Sudeten Germans around, it sure wasn't peaceful. Not that long ago. Peace achieved by purging culturally incompatible people.
9. Australia: Started as the "British Jail". A settler country, it has had conflict with its aboriginal population at least as much as the USA has. Does send troops as peacekeepers throughout its region of SE Asia and the Pacific.
8. Japan: Once upon a time not too long ago went on a brutal rampage of conquest, with atrocities that even gave their German allies pause. Have been living under the US security umbrella for 7 decades now, so perhaps peace has set in. Historical Statute Of Limitations still in effect however.
7. Canada: Like the US, or Australia or any other settler country, has had conflict with aboriginal peoples.
6. Finland: Any nation that borders Russia has had to do some fighting, and the Finns are no exception.
5. Switzerland: Armed to the teeth. They understood the saying "peace through superior firepower long before US President Reagan said it. There was a reason Hitler never tried "Operation Tannenbaum".
4. New Zealand: Like the US, Australia or Canada above, a settler country, has had conflict with aboriginal peoples. The aboriginal Maoris themselves have a fierce warrior tradition.
3. Austria: From the Hapsburg Monarchy to Anschluss with Greater Germany, it hasn't been all yodelers and The Sound Of Music.
2. Denmark: The Vikings are far back enough on the Historical Statute of Limitations, so unlike Japan and Austria, they may get a pass.
1. Iceland: As above.

What do all these countries have in common, at least for now? One dominant culture, although this may sadly change with the European ones and immigration patterns.

It all depends on what the media tells you. Sure, people might associate America with guns and England with a cup of tea, but that's because the American government is pushing hard to disarm you all. Here in England guns are completely illegal, yet they're easy to get hold of and there are still plenty of shootings the only difference being that law abiding citizens can't defend ourselves in such cases, and for those who can't get hold of guns they'll just stab you instead.

The sad truth is that many people around the world, including the 10 countries listed above, can be peaceful because there are Americans ready and willing to do violence on their behalf. I think all of those countries listed are either part of the NATO alliance or they have a bilateral military treaty with the USA.
