The Moral Breakdown Of The Selfie

The selfie neds to be killed. and I am heading the #killtheselfie campain. This trend should have never been started and for it to keep going on is absolutely ridiculous. The bathroom mirror selfie with you looking directly in the phone is the worst. Why doesn't anybody realize how idiotic you look?

The moral breakdown is far worse and far more important to address. It breaks down to feeling insunificant and morally bankrupt. Your need to be liked or accepted says a lot about a person that takes their own picture to be posted for the world to see. You may have thousands of followers and hundrends of fake FB friends but you seriously cannot find one person close enough to take a genuine picture of you? WHY?

Low self-esteem and needing people to think you are more interesting than you are is a serious mental issue. Where is the self acceptance and clear confidence of being happy to not needing to be liked followed or shared? How many of your FB or twitter fans really know the real you or for that matter what your voice even sounds like?

Find your inner peace and accept yourself as you are. And if you cannot find one true friend to take apicture of outside of the bathroom and with out them in the selfie with you then you need to address your reason for posting that in the first place.

Besides you look like a total fool so KILL THE SELFIE ! I feel sorry for you.

The last selfie I took was about 4-5years ago and it was the only one I have ever taken-lol. I don't do the picture thing though. Never had an interest and really don't see the point-lol.

People who take selfies aren't immediately people who don't have real friends. You're saying that low self esteem is a serious mental issue, and yet you're mocking anyone who feels good enough about their appearance to take a photo? Have you ever thought that taking those steps, because maybe you're too shy to ask someone else to take the photo--is helping your self esteem? Helping you feel happy in your body?

So apparently, a true friend needs to be someone who will take your photo. Why? I've taken selfies with friends in the room--because it's just damn easier. There's not a good reason you NEED a picture of yourself to be taken by others. Sometimes, to accept who you are, you need to do what you enjoy and say 'i don't give a fuck' to people like you--people trying to control the way people handle themselves. For some people, selfies might be a way to cope with body image. For some, it's a way to show off their makeup skills or clothing. Maybe they're feeling gorgeous and want to remember that, so take a picture for when they're feeling low. Telling people that if they take selfies, they're idiotic, foolish, have no real friends, mentally ill, and uninteresting is certainly not helping the issue you claim selfies pose in the first place.

All right, well if you want to play the condescension game without actually discussing this--like the adult you seem to be--go right ahead. Seriously though, do you honestly have so little to worry about that you're gonna criticize other people for how they live their own damn lives? And since when were selfies a sign of LOW self esteem? If anything I'd say it's a sign of self confidence, and a nice one at that.

Besides, it's not like this is anything new. Dude, people used to pay fucking fortunes to have actual portraits of themselves painted, or busts of themselves made. The selfie ain't shit compared to that.

There is everything wrong with you when you are posting yourself for all to see how alone and desperate you are to be accepted.
Find a friend to take a pic outside of your messy bedroom or bathroom. A painting or portrait is absolutely totally different and my point of what you need to do. So go find someone that wants to be friends with a redheaded grasshopper and have them take your picture like a normal human being.

Why? Why do I need to bother a friend when I can just do it myself? Selfies aren't about being alone and wanting to be accepted, they're about liking my face and wanting to take a quick picture of myself to preserve a memory of a certain place/time.

Besides, I say again, why the hell are you trying to tell other people how to live their lives? Talk about narcissism. If you don't like selfies, don't take them. Don't get all shitty at other people for doing something that literally doesn't even affect you in the slightest.

I think the OP is referring to those individuals who are obsessed with selfies like taking 100s of them in the bathroom or anywhere they go and relying on likes and followers for self worth.

I can also see your point as it can be convenient especially when you are travelling and it's just easier to take a selfie than asking randoms to take a pic for you, as they can be bad photographers ;)

The thing that gets me most of all, besides it just being goofy that people feel the need to take pictures of themselves all the time, is that often times the background is a messy room with dirty laundry all over the floor and dirty dishes on the coffee table or whatever.
The worst is any picture with a toilet in the background. The fact that you're taking a picture of yourself in a bathroom is bad enough, but to have a toilet in the picture as well just seems so trashy.

On this site, recently, someone posted a picture of themselves STANDING IN A FUCKING BIDET! STANDING IN THE BOWL OUT OF WHICH A STREAM OF WATER SHOOTS UP TO RINSE FECAL MATTER FROM BETWEEN THE CHEEKS OF ONES ASS!

I could not believe it. But it was true. Bad enough she violated the toilet-in-the-picture rule, but she was actually standing IN a bidet!!!

I think that people with endless amounts of selfies seem full of themselves and are attention seeking. As are the people that post pictures of themselves wearing revealing clothes and asking "do I look fat?" "Does my bum look big in this?" Seeking reassurance and it turns out that they were just fishing for compliments all along. Oh please, make it stop! Its so monotonous.

I use selfies as a postive thing such as make sure my make-up looks nice. Selfies are like everything in life... it can be used postivitly. I read in a book and they talk about how selfies enourage self esteem because it helps you get more confident in your own skin versu those who never take picture.

I don't take many selfies, infact I don't like taking them. But sometimes photos are the best way of expressing what you feel :)
Low self esteem is when you use selfies to get acceptance from the outside world. A good example is the HDIL section. Anyone who does that often have acceptance issues.

Most people your age do not have true LIFELONG FRIENDS and that shows through with the thousands of pics you took and deleted. You may have over 400 FB fake friends that are doing the exact same thing but it needs to stop. Someday you will see the deeper issue.
I want you to look through your friends photos of themselves and others that were taken of them. All's i am saying is find a friend to take your picture.

I don't see how having lifelong friends and taking a harmless selfie link, you can still have both.
