Trust is an important thing for all of us, it builds friendships, relationships, business deals. You agree to licenses when purchasing houses or software. It may be put in contract. But there is still a reliance on trust. So what if its broken... shattered. Can it be completely regained?

Im not refering to small trust, like telling your child not to eat a cookie and they break it. In this instance im refering to relationships.

Many, many years back, almost 10 or more I think, my father cheated on my mother, had an affair with another woman and they split up, did not divorse but they werent together, was the toughest time in my life. I despised my father for what he had done and swore to never do it to others. My mothers heart was broken. Now in todays society its EASY to shout and scream and insult, its easy to tell someone "Dont forgive them, you are weak if you do!" Really weak? So this person who has been married for almost 20 years, and dated a few before that with their now husband is weak for not instantly being able to move on.

I say this because after about 5 months of the insident my parents got back together, my dad was remorseful and devastated in his choices, you could see it. Now it took years for me and my mom to fully trust him against, but I can say for a fact he has tried his best, does nobody deserve another chance, again its easy to accuse and claim he could again. Guess what, everyone could again, so could my mom, but they haven't. I still struggle with trust of my father, but I see the love he has for my mother, and im well aware of the stress they went through during that time. He didn't wake up and decide to do it. There were factors on both sides. Not blaming my mother, but there was a tension that broke, but now that tension is gone.

So back to my question, do you honestly deep down believe trust can never be regained, nobody wants to be betrayed, and those who do are the weak ones. Easy to hate, hard to forgive. What are your opinions?

For some reason I find that there is a sense of right and wrong, and my sister said "what are you? the family police?"

Things that I consider right or wrong:
1. beating up your mom and almost killing her (youngest brother, YB)
2. purposely stealing someone else's husband from his wife and kids (sister did this, S)
3. Judging someone as less than human if you have to allow them to stay in your house but if they stay in your house you better treat them like a KING (YB)
4. buying stuff to just return right away after you have used it for a week (YB)
5. thinking you are better or more important than someone, and therefore they need to worship you and give you all their money (YB)
6. demanding someone service, like they live with you and they want you to go buy them coffee, clean their clogged toilet and also give them 1000 a month (no they are not paying rent, and no they are not helping with chores or anything) (Middle brother, MB)
7. stealing 200,000 from your parents (YB, and MB)
8. demanding that someone do everything for you, just because you exist (YB, MB, S)
9. cheating on your spouse whom you have a child with (S)
10. having a child out of wedlock with some guy who is married and has kids, breaking into a whole bunch of motels and also doing all this just to piss your parents off...(S)

Any of these do you find immoral or right or wrong? Or do you think all of this is just ok as long as you feel good about it? ofcourse it is all right to my siblings AND my parents, because they ALLOW these things to happen! They encourage it, and tell me to STFU because if I say anything then it will taint our "family" therefore just be quiet and I'm the crazy, evil, psycho one... because I don't steal money, beat up my parents, and cheat on my spouse and steal a spouse from his wife and kids.

What do you find right or wrong? Or is there no such thing, as long as it feels good?

Have you cheated on someone and the relationship was repaired? Did someone cheat on you and you decided to walk away, but regretted it later? Cheating is such a touchy subject and a lot of people seem to be on one side or the other, share your stories and what you've learned about relationships and yourself!

My husband and I have been married for two months. I cheated on him about 2 years ago in the early days, and after we talked and I tried leaving him because I knew he never really would forgive me, we decided to stay together and work through it, and he surprised me with a marriage proposal this past summer. We had talked about it, but I didn't know if he was ready. Well, 2 months later almost every time we drink and party and hang out, he constantly brings up divorce and says he's unhappy and depressed, and doesn't really work on our relationship. I've done everything I can to show him I want to build trust and that it's never going to happen again, but I feel it's not working. He will say he loves me and say he wants to be with me forever, and I understand this doesn't go away in a day but he's also running my emotions all over the place. He has agreed to go to counseling, and I hope it helps. Some of the issues behind my actions were because of things he was doing and the majority was just selfishness and emotional shut down on my end.
