College student dating high school student?

I'm 19; a few months away from 20. I graduated high school in 2007, nearly 2 years younger than the rest of my class. So now at 19, I'm a few months away from being a junior in college.

I met this guy today. He's 18 and will be a senior in high school next year. Normally I wouldn't give a guy younger than me a shot and wouldn't waste a moment's time on anyone in high school. However, this guy has somehow driven me boy-crazy and I can't get him out of my mind. We have so much in common and are so attracted to each other and are even on the same page as far as what we're looking for in a relationship. Should I give this a shot or is it too weird?

You two are very compatible with each other IN THE AREAS you are aware of, in other words. The kind of age differences you two have is minimal. Keep this friendship pure, at least for a couple of months. During that period, find out more about each other, are there MORE compatible areas (good!), are there areas that you don't feel compatible (bad)? Bear in mind, this is not math class, you can't subtract the bad feels from the good feels and get a net, and use that net. Emotions don't work that way. Good feels will remain good feels. Bad feels will remain bad feels. Use your gut feelings (note: they are NOT part of your day to day emotions, they are the 'I just know" type). Listen, and trust them. They (not your emotions) are your best source of guidances, always, for your whole life.

True. I definitely agree with that. I definitely like him (granted I do need more time to get know him for real). The age difference wouldn't be so bad if he was at least out of high school. I'm just worried about the differences of where we're at in life.

Some guys and girls just don't make it in college. that's all, no excuses

You know I think it's kinda stupid how girls think that a guy is not worth it just because he's younger than her.

I never thought age difference was overly important in a relationship. For the most part age is just a number and things like "is he in high school?" are hardly ever important either. You just said you're attracted to him, and that you have a ton in common, and that you both have the same things in mind with what you want in a relationship so I don't see the problem here. Give him a shot. Nothing about this is weird at all, and as long as you choose to not make it weird, then there shouldn't be a problem. You're both consenting adults, you're both mad about eachother, just go for it and like him for who he is not what he is or what he does.

I must have wrote that wrong. If I was older, I wouldn't immediately discount a guy for being a year or so younger. I'm almost 20 though. When I was 18, considering a guy younger was illegal and meant chasing guys around who were still in high school. I was never in a typical high school mindset even when I was in high school (why I never fit in well lol). He doesn't seem to be but I guess it's just weird that we're in two different education levels. I'm trying not to make it weird though.

nothing wrong with looking at guys that are substantially more successful and "better off". Why be with a guy that can't take care of himself, much less finish high school

That's sort of the point I was getting at. I have some required standards for the guys I date. For ex: I would never get serious with someone who wasn't planning on going to college, wasn't in college or hasn't already graduated. Doesn't mean I'd think less of a guy who didn't go but in that case, he'd have to have real plans for his life that include a wonderful job. I like nice things and having a guy who can't contribute as much as I plan to...not going to cut it.

I like the finer things in life too. some people just can't get the picture that they have to some how be productive and "earn a living". Its more in the feild of having fun most of all, and some people don't know how to have fun
