I believe because the scene originally was predominantly white. The people saying that probably also don’t really understand the subculture too well, they just make assumptions based on what they have seen and heard. I’m pretty sure most people don’t envision a dark skin person when they think of a goth which is totally understandable, but goths come in various ethnicities these days. The gothic subculture has evolved and spread across the globe over the years. There are goths who only wear black and there are goths who wear black and others colors too, like lolita or cyber goths like in the photo.

I used to dress that way in my teens and I do remember some peers were confused because I’m black. It was pretty shocking for them to see that at first but I didn’t care. I was such a rebel and loved rockin that style.

The same way that wearing black and what not doesn`t necessarily make you a goth. Many people, especially on twitter, think they`re goth, but aren`t, lol.

Brain cell 1- Goth or visigoth or orsogoth, Were a European civilization, in area of current germany.

Brain cell 2- The Race we call today, German has certain physical features, and pale skin is one of the main feature.

Brain cell 3- Wearing black with jewelry with dark hard and dark skin will make anyone look Indian or African or Egyptian, Not Goth...

Because that woman is trying to be goth. Hip hop culture has been appropriating punk and goth culture for years.

She is wearing a Chanel necklace for fucks sake... And for the record, i grew up going to metal and punk shows, I know what a goth looks like and I know an actual black metalhead/goth when I see one. This woman is not one.
