Totally understandable. Imagine its your daughter or your son or your brother or sister. You've grown up with them your whole life and your witnessing them take a big step to adulthood its a huge achievement totally understandable to be emotional and cry a little.

But if it's family, it's an important milestone and time. It's a reason to be happy and proud. Some might get carried away but crying for their children getting such an honor I think is acceptable

Crying at one's graduation is Understandable, Both my Grandmas
cried at my Sister's Graduation and my Mom looked over at her
Mother and started crying. So yes it does happen cause it's sad
and happy at the same time.In the audience? Maybe the parents. Realizing their kids are adults now and will be moving out soon going out to college possibly never being at home again. Yep. Tears of joy. 😂😂
For the parents, itβs the loads of debt they now have to payback. I pay my own loans and cry everyday.
