We'll see where it goes?

I've been seeing this guy and someone asked him if we were dating. He said no, and that someone also asked him if he wanted to date and he said "we'll see where it goes" so...what does that really translate into?

Agreeing with Chelsea on this one. I was asked this past weekend if I was seeing this girl who I clearly like, and seems to pretty clearly like me. I said "No" and that "shes just a friend" because I didn't feel at all comfortable saying she's anything more until I know for certain she wants to be more.

It's especially true if you two didn't start dating right off that bat. Like you were friends or coworkers before you started to get more interested in each other. It's much easier when right off the bat the guy makes it clear he's interested in dating you and actually asks you on a date right then and there, but it doesn't always work out that way. Some times you know each other for a while before you realize that the other person might be a romantic option. In which case eventually you'll have to have "the talk" about being exclusive or where you two stand.

When is a matter of gut feeling. If you feel like you either want to take the next step forward or move on, that's the best time to have it. When you aren't willing to wait around anymore, and you want to take the next step towards becoming serious.

That just means that he doesn't want to force you into a relationship without consulting you first. He wants to get to know you a bit more and talk to you about where you guys want to go with the relationship. I thought he was being respectful in acting this way in case you weren't into him like that. I'd ask him where he wants to go with the relationship and like he said, "see where it goes".
