What traffic camera is this?

Can anybody help me to understand what type of camera is this on the top of the traffic lights? Is it used to trace the vehicle running in the red light or is it only sensor to help on the traffic flow?

That's there for the traffic center to monitor and manage traffic flow during high congestion. They can see the volume of traffic and manually adjust the red light cycles to allow the high traffic direction to move along quicker to relieve the backup. Make sure you pay attention to the light cycle, not the camera.

Will this thing take any picture if I was run at the red light do you think?

Take a picture? Not likely. BUT they CAN see (if they're watching that camera) if/when someone runs a red light. If they're really serious, they COULD go back to the recording and look up a license plate. That's a fair amount of time and work to do, especially during periods of high traffic. Keep in mind, the people monitoring these cameras are NOT the Police. The Police have jurisdiction to write tickets, not those who watch for traffic congestion.

I wouldn't worry about it, but you'd better be more careful. We all make mistakes driving.

It's just a sensor. I don't know if its true or not but I've heard if you flash your lights on approach the lights will turn green. It thinks you're an emergency vehicle.
