What do you think of people who try to dredge up old issues in society to use as a political jab?

I think people are just desperate to hold other people to overly strict standards that they themselves have abandoned so they can get some agreement that those standards are unreasonable, and they were thus justified in abandoning them. The problem is those strict standards are often not the ideals of anyone real but the speculation of bad faith political operatives who just want us commoners to stay mad at each other. And most of us even know this but do it anyway because it feels too good to dump on each other, I guess, even if we know our hatred for the other side was orchestrated by the same people still orchestrating it.
