  It depends on the person’s religion. Hindus usually burn the corpse while Christians and Muslims bury the dead bodies.

  Yep. They do so because, in Hinduism, it is believed that the soul is attached to the the soul of the deceased stays attached to its body even after its demise, and by cremating the body, it can be set free.
