I'm an American, but I can answer why: Because the US is essentially the center of the world. Here in South Korea, Koreans talk about American politics (and how weird and bizarre it is, to them) often. Almost as much as local politics. And if you live anywhere in the world where English is common, the US *does* feel like the "Capital of planet Earth."

So this question is like asking why do Californians or New Yorkers comment on Washington DC politicians. Because the US is basically the capital of Earth and the place that influences the rest of the planet the most.

But I think your question implies why do foreigners talk sh*t about the US, unless I'm wrong. That annoys me too. But like I said, the US is the most important country in the world and basically influences the rest of the globe, especially if you live in another Western country, like Canada, the UK, Australia, etc.

Because a lot of decisions affect us directly! Trump trying to screw up NATO, that's our defense plan A, in case Russia goes crazy. Import tariffs/free trade are a huge deal for Germany because we have a very strong exporting industry. Lax American food quality rules could threaten the health of our citizens when imported. And so on and so forth...

Probably because they're amazed at how uninformed the general population of the USA really is. Europe has lived through fascism. They see how the USA is gravitating towards fascism. Over here we say that we want to be free, yet a lot of people want to move towards that type of government. The RNC is holding a conference in Hungary right now where a dictator rules and that's what they want to pattern the government after. Bottom line, Foreigners probably feel the need to warn us that we are cutting our own throats.

I rarely do but tbh I'm tired of American politics and ideas being exported into other countries. These days I noticed that some people in Latin America are making everything about politics and talking about people being to sensitive and bla bla bla. I find that to be annoying.

Most political decissions (of any country) affect the whole world, and as the USA being one of the biggest their decissions have a big impact.

Also the media covers US American politics, sometimes more sometimes less, but you just get informed whats going on there and with the internet you can give your opinion.

Because honestly a lot of the policies the United States makes has impact on the lives of other counties in ways that most Americans can not understand. That is why we are THE global super power, when we chose to do something the rest of the world, willingly or unwillingly gets dragged a long and has to suffer or benefit from any direct or indirect consequences.

Americans almost never comment on other countries, nor do we give a sh*t about them, unless they're a direct threat to the US, like China. This time, you CAN blame it on good ol' American jingoism (which we're not ashamed of).

Many people also don't realize how big the US is. The US combined with Canada is basically an entire continent and most of Canada isn't inhabitable, so the US is a MASSIVE place to live in (yes, I know Mexico's there too; no one cares about Mexico on the global stage). It's not that Americans don't care about the rest of the world intentionally; it's just that America is pretty massive by itself. India is mostly the same way; they don't care about other countries much, either.
