You were obviously talking to one of those new democrats who call themselves "woke". All of them HATE the USA with a passion. They say that the mere sight of an American flag makes them feel uncomfortable. They want to get rid of the constitution and bill of rights and turn America into a "socialist utopia " where everyone gets taken care of by the government like children of billionaires. Who is going to pay for all of that? It doesn't matter. It is irrelevant. That is their dream and their reality. They are helping to make the socialist dream come true, but they don't realize that the end result will be Venezuela or North Korea. I would seriously LOVE to send all the woke people on a one-way trip to North Korea, then sit back and watch them adjust to their utopia...
So nobody alive today had any part in the war of independence. Not to be confused with the revolution because the imperial power was not unseated, just kicked out of our territory. That’s like somebody who backs those who fired on fort Sumter first calling the Civil War the war of Northern aggression. Not much actually happened on the day the first person signed, because almost everyone else had to go home and put their mortal affairs in order because they knew they would shortly be dead. The original signers who survived the war died penniless, but they kept their oath to pledge their lives treasure and their sacred honor.
I think that a couple of cases of Sam Adams were killed during the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
