Why does Simon Cowell and Gordon Ramsay have similar accents?

I know there’s regions of Great Britain just like the United States that have different accents like I claim to it not have an accent but I’m pretty sure I do have an accent even though I don’t recognize it.

Side question can you tell when somebody is from Seattle or the Northwest? not being said and asked I’m pretty sure Gordon Ramsay and Simon Cowell are from completely different places of Britannia. so why are their accents so similar?

then again coming from England you can spot regional differences with some people.

Also even if they have a ‘BBC English’ accent, this slips if talking to someone from the region they lived in, grew up.

While I speak with a Geordie accent, I usually try to make it a bit English for people even in England to understand. It is however different to someone from say Sunderland (🤢🤮) which is just down the road - 14 miles away.

when I was growing up I could tell the difference in an accent from say 5 miles away.

within the North East of England there are a bunch of accents with variations every few miles.

when you expand this to Yorkshire, Lancashire, the quagmire known as the South, it’s even more of a huge mix.

when people say they love the how English speak, it’s amusing as their are soo many very different accents, that make it almost another language.

They sound completely different to my ears. As a rule of thumb accents change slightly every 2 miles but it often takes a trained ear to pick them out. Most people won't notice a difference until 25 miles.
There are some distinct accent boundaries like the Landsker Line and the danelaw line where the change is more pronounced.
As a non American I can hear differences in your accents but I'm not practiced enough to name which city

Fair enough, I know there regional And I Alex even when it comes to Britain but I couldn’t tell you where there from. Unless it’s cockney then it’s from the workers district in London beyond that it goes over mt head.

And yes everyone has an accent you're just use to your own so it sounds normal to you.
