You know the United Kingdom recently used Gibraltar to take control of an Iranian Oil tanker?
Its is a fantastic position from which the UK can command much of the trade of southern Europe, and north Africa.

In war this Naval base has almost never failed to advantage the United Kingdom. The only alternative trade routes for theses regions are by land and air nether of which even compare to the cost-effectiveness and flexibility of sea trade.
Hence why this position is soo valuable to the United Kingdom, and their allies.

Yes, it’s the only way for ships to sail in and out of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s no different from the Panama Canal.

Well I’ve been there a lot.

It has a fully operational runway, decent anchorage, water, it’s a big rock with tunnels
Imagine how many anti ship missiles you could put on it

Yes you are right and for commercial reasons maybe Gibraltar can become an important strategic point again.

And the English having had in the past the control of Gibraltar and with the Suez Canal allowed him to access more quickly to India, the Germans had tried to take control of it for his fight against the English.

You can launch submarine hunter aircraft from there
It is the gates to the Mediterranean
It’s also the only way out of the Mediterranean, as the Suez would be blocked day one of any conflict
