6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Probably. Right wing misinformation gets billions in funding every year. It doesn't matter that republicans have openly expressed that they want to end social safetny nets, women's rights, and democracy itself, because right wing misinformation has used its billions to push the narrative that brown people are coming to our border with their hand out. It also doesn't matter that republicans have refused all immigration reform for the last 20 years because complaining about it is their bread n butter - right wing misinformation doesn't mention that because they want republicans to win no matter what. And I don't think it's reasonable to expect people, within minutes, to be able to untwist the tangle of disinformation that whole industries of professional propagandists have spent centuries of man hours twisting.
So, republicans are likely to win and then democracy is over. the first thing they will do is end support for Ukraine. Russia will then resume their status as a global superpower instead of a pariah. Then, after all the economic groundwork democrats have done these past two years finally start to pay off, republicans will take credit for it. But throughout the entire time they will put on a bunch of show hearings to drag those who Trump views as political adversaries (but are really just doing their jobs) in front of congressional committes to shout at them thus producing sound bytes for right wing media to further push the fake narrative of Trump being a victim of some grand conspiracy or cover up. All the while they will be carefully avoiding doing anything about state legislatures that are aggressively pushing to have politicians in power choose the winners instead of voters. No one will mention that because of all the noise made by the hearings.
And that's that. Democracy is over. With republicans controlling the results in 2024, Trump will win and anyone who objects to state houses just picking a winner will get scolded as questioning the integrity of a legitimate election. There just won't be anything anyone can do about it. And when he crashes the economy by 2026 or so, we won't be able to put democrats back in charge of the house because republicans will still control the election processes. Rich people who kiss the ring will have unlimited privilege, the rest of us will be the ones paying for it with the work of our lives. Maybe in 100 years or so people will get sick enough of it to try a revolution, but sadly the technology we have today makes any serious attempt to drag right wing leaders out of their tower pretty much impossible. In medieval times they had knights protecting rich thieves. Daunting but enough peasants can and often did overrun them. When we have a king in the US, it'll be basically an infinite unstopabble army of killer drones protecting them, and there will be nothing we can do about it. I'm not a prophet or anything. This is just what they always do.
Or maybe democrats will hold the house and the job of democratic governing will continue to trudge on however slowly, as right wing media continues to howl its fake and entertaining grievances. Who knows..20 Reply

+1 yWe can hope for the future of the country to get better, Democrats have ran it into the ground the last two years... inability to get things done is the best we can hope for, for now.
Until we can get some policies in place after 2024 to do better for the country and people, especially rural America.

I think tons of Democrats will vote Republican, but never tell their friends about it.

10 ReplyI don't know anything about American politics but I'm advised that Democrats will retain the Senate and Republicans will win the house. Expect Congress to impeach Biden for sniffing hair and the Senate not to allow any witness testimony at the trial.

+1 yYes. I think Republicans will gain at least 4 seats in the senate and definitely have the majority in the House of reps.
The Democrats will get punished hard because inflation and crime is sky high under their leadership.
Once people are living in fear of losing their lifestyles and not feeling safe on the streets that's a big motivator to go vote and since we only have a two major political system the other choice is only Republicans to pick.

Doesn't matter. Who ever wins just means they crazy voters will have bragging rights till the next election.
Very little else really happens except a couple laws will be passed.
00 Reply100% and Biden would be paralyzed then.

00 ReplyHouse, almost definitely by a wide margin. Senate is closer because in many races the Republicans have less-than-stellar nominees.

00 ReplyYes, Republicans will take the House and Senate and in 2024, they will take back the Presidency
