You can have a good president literally whenever you want. The problem is that you have a democracy, and in a democracy you get the leader you deserve. If you want a good leader then it is your job to fulfill your civic duty of voting responsibly. Now, this is relevant mainly because USA is one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to citizens doing their civic duty and take responsibility for their vote.

Step one of this would obviously just be to get people to vote in the first place. USA is notoriously bad at voter turnout which means your system of election becomes far more easily corrupted. Once you start voting as a nation you also have to start taking some responsibilities. Things like understanding your own country and its position in the world and understanding who each candidate are as well as some basics in rhetoric and politics.

Some presidents will perform better or worse in different circumstances so your country probably needs a different sort of president if you are fighting a world war compared to if your country is trying to build a trade empire. Its not just about a "good" or a "bad" president. You are the employer and you are trying to find the correct person to deal with the current issues your country is having.

Politics is also an extremely old subject which includes how to gather and channel public support. This means that we have libraries worth of trial and error about how you appeal to voters, and perhaps more sinister, how you manipulate and use them. Its probably a good idea that you read some of those books yourself so that the first political candidate with a history book can't just twist you around their finger for fun like what has happened all too often in history to all too many naive people.

If your country can do these, quite frankly rather simple things, then you will select good presidents each and every time. Maybe you will not agree with all of them but even when the candidate you supported loses the winner will be someone who just helps the country in a different way from the one you had in mind.

So, when will this happen in USA? Oof.. Sorry there mate. I dont think a single generation alive today over there will take the issue of voting seriously. You might have to literally have to wait for everyone in USA to be replaced with the next generation and even then you need to make sure that they are raised correctly and have the tools to vote responsibly.

At this point, I think the best are in the past.

Based on who the GOP is putting in place for the midterms, I don't expect we will see any party balance in the future. Most have already agreed to flip the national election if they don't like the result. We haven't been considered a "full democracy" in a while, many on the right taking pride in this fact. 60% on the right still believe the election was stolen. After 60 failed lawsuits and numerous audio evidence of Trump trying to do exactly that.

Rule of the people, by the people, and for the people is gone. They've abandoned their country for the sake of Trump, of all people.

Now we are seeing the sweeping results of the Roe v Wade decision, presenting some of the most authoritarian policies against even those who simply want contraception. So freedom was placed on the back burner as well.

Soba certain set of precedents have been broken, and the American seat of power has been all but destroyed. I picture Trump, then once he has 6 illegal terms and dies, probably Kanye, then crazy chicken nugget lady, then someone's pet rabbit.

Good is relative. Use specific metrics to determine the kind of president you are reddening too….. or if you are just trying to cause an argument in the comments go right ahead.

Given the current political landscape, the possibility of that happening is almost certainly zero.

That's because "good" is a completely subjective term, due to different people having different ways of quantifying it. What one person would consider a good president, another person would think was terrible.

Just look at the last several presidents; there are a lot of people that think Biden is a good president, but just as many people think he's absolute garbage. The same can easily be said of Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc.

The chances of us getting a president that everyone thinks is good, is practically non-existent. Our politics are way, way too polarized for that to happen.

There's always a chance to have a good President in the future. Remember, we the people elect the president and the other members of Congress who represent us. We are responsible for who gets put into office.

Now what the President does once in office... thats another story.

good for the American people? maybe, because... hope

or good for those groups of power that put them at the presidential seat for their own benefit? I think US presidents have always been good for those in the elite that did benefit from certain policies they made them go with...

Presidents serve as a spokesperson and but much more now a days. Doesn't matter which side, the same people behind the curtain pull the strings and continue to put on a show for the vastly undereducated people in this country. If you are willing to hurt another human being over political views, left or right, then you have been fooled. Untied we conquer, divided we fall.

Normally, when things are very bad as they are now in terms of the economy, crime and all the social insanity going on, the next president will be better because there's no where to go but up as a country.

Bush Jr major screw up led to Obama doing well.

Probably not. I mean, there hasn't been actual democracy in the United States since 2016.

Everybody has their own definition of good, so that question is impossible to answer.

Probably not. Elites want a corrupt figurehead who will do their bidding.
