I mean, "walls don't work" is partially true. The majority of undocumented people fly here and then don't fly back. A wall can't help with that.

But yeah, if it's already paid for, might as well finish it. If it isn't paid for, and border states want it, let border states pay for it.

But yeah, as someone on the left, I get kind of fed up with Democrats sticking their thumbs in their ears like this issue doesn't exist. Some guy in Minneapolis saying Texans has no idea what's going on in Texas. Especially when it's the legal immigrants who are especially irritated by this.

We need Democrats and Republicans agreeing on the issues and proposing 2 sets of solutions. Not Democrats and Republicans believing exactly opposite issues and completely denying other issues, leaving us with only 1 set of solutions for any issue. It's stupid. There are leftist ways of dealing with illegal immigration. There are right-wing ways of dealing with climate change. Stop giving your opposing party a monopoly on half the issues, and stop making to voters choose which issues "exist" rather than choosing between right-wing and left-wing proposals for the same issues.

When it comes down to issue-by-issue polling, Americans agree with each other more than we disagree. I'm sick of everyone appealing only to those who disagree with everyone else.

Because the majority of cases of illegal immigrations don't happen via direct border crossings. I mean a decent number still do, and the wall may help with that. But the majority of cases are people who entered the US legally and overstayed their visas.

In this case, it's like trying to reduce the number of people in your home. The door keeps out some, so close it, yes. But it doesn't help with the fact that you also have party guests you let in who now refuse to leave, which are currently the majority of the guests you no longer want.

That's pretty much all I'm saying. It would be dumb of Biden not to finish a wall that's already paid for. I'm just saying that while it would help, the majority of cases are people who came in legally and overstayed their visas, so we'll want to tackle that, too.

I think with those already here we need to send them back to correct the problem. This will never happen of course. We can’t even get them to build the damn wall let alone exile those who have violated our national sovereignty.

If we had both policies in place it would be effective.

I’d further suggest snipers along that wall with warning signs in English and Spanish before the wall and running the length of it that proceeding further will result in certain death and/or injury.

I’d also say the illegals, before being exiled should be forced to clean streets and such, and sent back completely naked. Every stitch of their clothing and every possession they have should be seized to pay for all the social benefits they’ve stollen from Americans and to pay their share of taxes they have failed to pay.

Additionally anyone who has assisted them in obtaining social benefits, as in the politicians and heads of those state and federal agencies who helped these illegals steal that money, and who full well know better should be forced to pay back every last cent to the American people and if they cannot, seize all assets and wages until they can. Even if that means they pay for the rest of their lives.

Is this radical? Yes. Exceedingly harsh? Yes. Fair. Yes. Sick of these people who think they can just violate our sovereignty and the ones who do it are traitors and ought to be dealt with as such.

Using political positions to sell out the American people to foreign nationals and to advance a deceptive and dishonest agenda is an abuse of power and ought to be handled fiercely as the extent of the crime is great and has gone on for many years with their consent.

Back to the wall. There WERE walls long before Trump. This is not his idea, and I don't believe it's a fix all by any means. Walls DO work in urban areas, and that's where it is most needed and effective. Where it doesn't work is in the desert, which is where the border patrol wants more drones and electronic surveillance. Where it doesn't work is annexing private lands in rural areas with little traffic.

By the way, I'm not calling you a "moron" because you may think a wall WOULD work there, just as well as it does in a city. What I am saying is that you have no evidence that it would be effective in the same way, and it's not really what agents want out there, based on what I've read.

What I believe we need are a shitload more border agents, more drones, state of the art electronic surveillance, more powerful weapons and better intelligence to obviously thwart ILLEGAL smuggling of people and contraband. Simultaneously, we need to establish a REAL solution to the immigration issue, both for permanent residency AND seasonal help. NO administration has been able to come up with a decent solution in the past 80 years. It's time to find one.

Legal "migrants" are INDEED needed in certain areas because not only can't you PAY enough to get American workers to do those jobs, but they also don't want them. Have you ever been to heart of the agricultural belt in California during the summer, or planting and harvest season? Have you ANY IDEA or SEEN what goes on there? All of the business I mentioned above were backed up for months due to lack of help, and they couldn't FIND enough Americans to fill the jobs. This was BEFORE Covid, so no one was being paid NOT to work. Today in my area, there's help wanted signs everywhere. So don't tell people this is some "belief" that there's not enough Americans wanting to work, or skilled at the jobs needed - it's a FACT.
