Is the news media in your country sold to a certain political party or to the Government?

The prominent media channels in my country are sold to the Government. I am from India and the channels in India are made fun of by other nations' channels. They are spreading communal hate, and are not doing their job by siding with the current Government, no matter how many lives are lost in some accident or something else. It is a literal circus.

They are the lowest in my view. And it is because of this, I have turned to YouTube and independent channels like The Satya Show, Being Honest, Soch by Mohak Mangal, Dhruv Rathee, Newslaundry, The Deshbhakt, Sarthak Goswami, The Litterate Man, and many more.

These channels are doing the real job of news. Even stand up comedians are telling the truth.

So, is the media in your country sold or is it independent?

We still have a free press in America but most outlets do operate with a certain amount of bias. Some are nothing more than cheerleaders for political parties (Fox News, MSNBC), many others have a more subtle bias that many people may not even pick up on. The more serious problem is the widespread proliferation of actual fake news sources, which are shared all over social media to spread misinformation. So not only do consumers need to identify bias in real reporting, they have to weed out the fake stuff as well.

The media cannot be trusted. Doesn't matter where. Some way less than the others. Independent outlets are doing what the media was supposed to do. However the media and journalists get their money from governments in order to spread whatever they want to relay to the public such as propaganda.

The BBC is financed by a licence fee regulated by the government. So while they are supposed to be independent they do still depend on the government for funding. Independent outlets are more reliable.

Print media is largely right wing.

@AngryCarl Tucker is really a commentator and not a reporter. If you are a reporter you are supposed to provide an unbiased account of an event instead of selectively including and omitting certain facts so that it fits a specific narrative.

@AngryCarl He is one of the better commentators out there. Guys like David Muir or Norah ODonnell put themselves out there as news reporters but they just run PR for thr democrats.
