Why do so many "never-Trumper's" laugh hysterically when you say that Trump did something well?

Like this one time, I was talking to a friend and I said that Trump did good things for the economy, and his response was to laugh hysterically. Another time I said "I wonder if Russia would have attacked Ukraine if Trump was still president," and I was again met with hysterical, almost manic laughter.

I've seen this with a lot of people who really hate Trump where they burst into this almost insane laughter at the thought that there might be something that isn't absolutely awful about the guy. And it's usualyl stuff that can't be debated; like the economy thing. Whether you liked Trump or hated him, it's pretty impossible to deny that Trump accelerated the economy. Even if you think it was only good because of Obama, at the very least, Trump continued the trend.

Has anyone else noticed this reaction, or am I just surrounded with obnoxious people?

Because they have been indoctrinated through a constant stream of propaganda to have Trump Derangement Syndrome. You honestly can’t even talk to them rationally. You point out things that other Presidents did that were far, far worse and they just ignore it. You ask them for specific instances for their claims of racism, sexism etc. and they act annoyed that you don’t simply accept these labels and throw up their hands in frustration and walk away.

Then they get on Twitter to bitch about the “brainwashed Trumptard” they had to share oxygen with.

Its kind of fascinating to see. I was always pretty ambivalent on Trump and figured he had just as much right to run for the presidency as anyone else. But soooo many people have such a visceral, irrational white-hot hatred for the man that I had to start looking into their claims of what he said or did. Overwhelming the information was negatively framed, editorialized, misquoted, and very, very selectively manipulated. He never said that White supremacists are “very fine people.” He never called his daughter a “piece of ass.” He never told people to “drink or inject bleach.”

I could go on. And on and on. But the people who hate Trump will always hate him. Unsurprisingly they think that if you don’t believe Trump is Super-Hitler it’s because you’re in the Klan and think Trump is the second Messiah. 🙄

No. I just don’t think he’s Super-Hitler. 🤷‍♂️

I was always ambivalent about the dude too. I wasn't a fan of his antics, but his policies generally seemed to work pretty well. But seeing other people's reactions to him really IS fascinating... it's honestly pretty sad. Like, why do you care THIS much?

Talking with these people, and specifically telling them something that doesn't line up with their world view feels like you're letting them in on a suuuuuuuper uncomfortable joke that everyone but them was in on. And you're just like... I don't know how to tell you this, but...

"Trump did good things for the economy." Really? Like what? Mostly he just played golf and started a trade war with China. Not sure who that helped.

"I wonder if Russia would have attacked Ukraine..." Of course they would, Trump was Putin's buddy, he would have done nothing to aid Ukraine.

Trump told Putin that he would nuke Moscow, if Putin invaded Ukraine.

And as for the economy stuff; again, this stuff is pretty cut and dry, dude. Trump passed his huge tax write off legislation, he renegotiated tarrifs to make buying American cheaper, he expanded oil drilling leases to make energy and fuel production costs cheaper, he created federal subsidies to help support entrepreneurship in the inner cities.

"Tariffs?" He started a trade war with China and Europe.

We were already in a trade war with China and Europe; one that we were losing. And those tax cuts impacted Middle class through to wealthy people. Large and small businesses too. The lowest income people saw the least benefit, but they also pay the least in taxes.

When I was young my dad told me that soon there would be more stupid people than smart people. He was right. We can't drill for oil, so we just beg other countries for it. This somehow helps climate change.

Yeah, that whole "importing oil to save the environment" thing is a real head scratcher for me too.

We have a 500 year supply of oil, but since the libs hate oil, it's best to beg other countries for it.

Kamala Harris laughs about almost every question she's asked; although I think she has had some schooling to stop herself from doing that.

They just watch CNN and read the NY Times. When they hear a fact that does not support the democrat narrative their little heads explode.

Is it fair to say that you think the hysteric laughter is more of a response to discomfort?

More than that they actually find the situation funny?

I think it is more to do with denial.

Honestly, their denial is some pretty scary stuff to watch. This is destroying people's lives.
