I have seen American YouTubers saying "you was", is it a slang or actually a tense mistake?

Like I have seen many mistakes with "there vs their vs they're".

Really weird to me, because it's the basics.

Stuff like, "you was" would mostly be slang but, not knowing the difference between their, there and they're, et., al. is just stupidity. Well, MOST of the time!! Sometimes it's just a typo, you mean one word but you accidentally type the other and don't proofread to see if you were right. I'm often catching myself writing, "here" when I mean, "hear" and vice versa. I have no idea why I keep doing that when I KNOW the difference! There's another one! "Know', sometimes comes out, "no' or even, "now" and vice versa. However, "now" could just be because of this crappy keyboard that hardly ever types what I want it to!! I'll TYPE the K but they keyboard doesn't show it on screen!
I know what you mean!! This is stuff we were taught in 3rd grade!! Why don't grown adults know the difference? Quite often, they just don't care enough to actually LEARN the difference but, it could also be that teachers over the past 50 years or so, no longer give enough of a shit to teach them well or correct them when they make these mistakes. I had a spot of trouble with their, there and they're until I was about 12 and decided to actually learn the differences.

That really is the case.

What my theory is, the language we learn, is the language we are correct, grammatically. I have noticed it. We are not really that good, grammatically speaking, in our mother tongue.

And the Americans have English as their mother tongue. Hence, these small, but quite important mistakes, are common.

I worked with a black girl, and she spoke the Queen's English, until a black guy walked by. Then it was... you was, you is, do dat, which choo.. etc.

So it's hard to tell if the Tuber made a mistake, or it was intentional.

They're just uneducated. Their education where they're from is just not there in quality. Another one I see a lot, especially with Canadians, is using "women" in the singular and "woman" in the plural. It's so weird to me. Like a glitch in the Matrix. But yeah, it's just bad American education.

Yes. It is the basics. Unfortunately few people in America can conjugate a verb correctly or write a complete sentence. It’s a goddamn tragedy. They really don’t give a shit and no one ever corrects them or calls them out.

It's a slang. In reality a lot of them know to use "you were" but they've always used "you was" so that's what they continue to do even at the college level and beyond that. I have a few friends intelligent people by the way who still say it that way

I was is correct but saying you refer to more than one person so you say you were. Maybe they intended to say was because they are only talking to one person?
