Killing the Keystone XL Pipeline was the right move. It would have transported carbon-intensive shitty tar sands oil from Alberta Canada. It has been shown that shitty oil that's incredibly difficult to refine "is likely to both reduce the amount of gasoline produced in U. S. refineries for domestic markets and increase the cost of producing it, leading to even higher prices at the pump."

Look it up yourself. And also ask yourself this very simple question - why doesn't Canada build more of it's own refineries and lower gas prices for their own citizens FIRST? Gas in Canada today costs $6 CDN, $4.43 USD on average. Canada has more than enough space in their provinces to put up refineries in areas that no one will object to, so why haven't they done it and made use of their own oil? The "supposed" reasons are they can't get approval to build any NEW refineries that can handle heavy crude, due to environmental groups and government backlash. Supposedly, they don't have the pipeline infrastructure? Roads to remote areas? Build them. But no, they'd rather dump their shitty crude on the US then spend the money and fight the battle in Canada. Refining that stuff here is more costly and wouldn't drop your gas prices one cent, nor is it any good for our already damaged environment in the refinery areas.

The fact that Keystone XL wouldn't lower gas prices was demonstrated over a decade ago and hasn't changed.

Additional reasons I didn't mention before:

Even if Biden didn't cancel it,
1) "the existing Keystone pipeline has plenty of excess capacity",
2) the XL pipeline wouldn't have been completed until 2023 at the earliest.
3) the discount the US currently receives on Canadian oil (around $30/barrel) would likely disappear.
