There isn't much difference between the parties when it comes to substantial issues. They work together toward similar goals. They mainly differ when it comes to social issues. That's how they attract voters. But the voters don't know that the politicians only say what they want to hear and don't intend to work in their interests once elected.

Both parties were full-blown, Milton Friedman, neoliberal (corporatist-fascist) by the 90s. They are both in league with the Zionist, New World Order globalists. They are both imperialistic war mongers. They are both looting this country - the national treasury and individual citizen's assets.

I was a solid Democrat until 1997. After Clinton's first term, I didn't think a Republican administration could be any worse than the Democrats, so I began voting third party.

Then I watched the 911 coup d'etat carried out by U. S. "allies" in collusion with people inside our own government. $trillions disappeared and the technocratic police state was born.

That was a Republican administration, but did the Democrats push back?

I got hoodwinked by Obama and enthusiastically voted for Mr. Hope and Change. He said he would investigate 911. I thought he would curtail the Bush-era security measures. But he went back on every campaign promise. I realized that he was working for someone. Neither party works for the benefit of America or its citizens. Our representative form of government has been hijacked.

I admired the Democratic party's (JFK, LBJ) stance on civil rights and the end of segregation.
I admired the party's stance on women's rights.
I never agreed with their stance on the second amendment.

I was shocked at the 2016 primaries. They were absolutely and obviously rigged. They were going nominate Hillary no matter what their constituents wanted.

The party lost its mind like a human having a psychotic break when Hillary lost, except it was the entire party and its supporters. They have been insane ever since.

Opposition to free speech and freedom to assemble. ✔️
Do everything possible to eradicate second amendment rights. ✔️
Demonize Trump and his supporters. ✔️
Love war and U. S. global dominance. ✔️

I just realized that I could go on and on, but I'll stop. Needless to say that I detest what the Democratic party has become. It is out to make Americans weak and stupid, and cause chaos so that people will accept the promise of comfort and safety through full, technocratic totalitarianism.

I can't say much better about the Republicans. At least they have a bit more regard for the Constitution. They aren't promoting a delusional gender agenda. They haven't weaponized racism. They kinda frown on lawlessness.

In the past, when I thought of Republicans, I thought of things like McCarthyism, opposition to civil rights, people shouting hate at young black children going to school, patriarchal attitudes toward women, and things like that.

Now I know that Democrats were just as involved. For example, the racist South was mostly Democrat. Things are not what they seem on the news. It's not just one party versus another. Things are complex. Behind the scenes, there are wheels within wheels. There are power brokers and conspiracies.

In closing, I'll admit that I voted for a Republican presidential candidate for the first time in my life in 2020. I had to vote against Biden. I'm not a huge Trump fan, but he was far better than Obama or Dubya. I didn't agree with many of his appointments or actions, but he did surprise me at times by going against the grain. To his credit, he sometimes trusted his instincts instead of just doing what he was told.

American political parties are not ideological parties as you tend to see in Europe. Rather they are lose knit coalitions of regional, religious, ethnic, racial, income and other groups that have come together in part by common interests and in part by historical accident.

In the case of the GOP, it is a coalition made up of classical liberals - which Americans call conservatives - libertarians, small and medium sized business, religious and social traditionalists, lower middle and upper middle income earners, farmers, rural and exurban populations, and historically older voters. It tends to dominate the South, the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountain West and the state of Alaska - though this is starting to change somewhat.

On the Democratic side you get, ethnic and religious minorities, middle and high income wage earners, big business and entertainment industries, urban and inner suburban votes, radical liberals - which Americans call liberals. (Note, the term "radical" here does not mean as Americans use it, i. e. "extremist," but rather as the ancient Greeks used the term, meaning "to the root of.") The regions where it is dominant are northeast, the mid-Atlantic, the Pacific coast and the state of Hawaii.

It also being added that the United States is experiencing a populist phase in its' culture, not unlike the mid to late 19th century and to a lesser extent the 1960s and 70s. Thus one of the reasons that Mrs. Clinton was defeated in 2016.

in terms of the extent of the authority of the state, that question was settled in the 1930s with the advent of the New Deal and that consensus has basically held. Americans - of both parties - want government and plenty of it. See also the fact that 1 in 6 people who work, work for government, 1 in 7 is a Social Security recipient, 1/3 of all families, this year, will receive some form of transfer payment.

That is a huge bipartisan constituency for government and neither party, since the 1930s, has ever really challenged it. Rather, the debate between Republicans and Democrats is over how government should be used. Not whether or not it should be used.

It is argued that Republicans are against government. Yet much nuance is lost in this. It was argued that President Reagan was opposed to government. Yet in fact he used it to win the Cold War and induce certain incentives into the economy. He never once, while running for office nor while in office, challenged the core entities of the American welfare state - Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid. Indeed, even in his January 1981 inauguration, most commentators missed it, but Reagan made a very nuanced argument.

"In this present crisis," said Reagan, "government is the problem and not the solution." Please note the "IN THIS PRESENT CRISIS..." This was Reagan saying that government has a role, but it needs to play it appropriately.

By contrast, the Democrats, since the "Great Society," have seen government as an engine of "social engineering." Government will wage war on poverty, end racism and so on. The Republicans, by contrast, favor the welfare state but more as an ameliorative force, reducing the worst effects of old age, illness and temporary unemployment.

This is the real debate between the two parties and the irony is that as the two parties moved closer together under Mr. Trump, the bitterness of the debate between them has intensified. Mr. Trump, as a good populist, has been far from attacking the government but rather attacks "the elites." He argues that those who need help should get it and are being denied it by the powerful. The Democrats, by contrast, attack "the deplorables" and such. For the Democrats, government exists to "fix" those who are socially retrograde.

Thus, by the way, are racial minorities and blue collar workers beginning to drift into the Republican party. Thus, at the same time, is the upper middle class and even "the rich" moving closer to the Democratic party.

Suffice to say, this is far more complicated than the simplistic caricature of a "more government/less government" dichotomy. The parties are diverse coalitions and politics is downwind of culture. Thus, the current similarity in the parties belief in government as the vitriol between them intensifies.

I think both people are fine and just have different views (although I still think there's a few things that most Americans can agree on depending on who you ask). The politicians on both sides tend to be more extreme and annoying.

The democratic party tends to be more inclusive but also blinded to their biases (like when people within the movie industry and companies call for more representation but instead excludes the groups they think are the majority and uses basic, sometimes outright offensive, stereotypes to represent minorities).

Both parties are increasingly power hungry but I think the Democratic party is the better example with the pandemic/lockdown situation (I don't care what your pov is regarding that but since early 2020, you have to agree was always mostly democrats pushing the lockdowns and the vaccine with little actual proof of anything).

I think most of the more well known politicians have good intentions behind their policies even if they're stupid explaining it or if their policies are stupid themselves. Politicians on both sides.

As for the republican party, a lot of the ideas that major republicans are downright retarded and they are dogcrap at promoting themselves. The democratic party is at least good at promoting themselves to young adult, most republicans are boring and tedious to listen to. At best, you have a few dad jokes during speeches (if you even get to hear about the speeches). Donald Trump had a few memes and now NFTs for some reason. Desantis just makes dad jokes. Tbf, Obama was basically the same but, like Biden, he was still worshipped by news outlets.

Republicans also say a bunch of dumb things against their image. They hardly promote themselves to young adults, and when the younger demographics actually hear about them, it's either; Nick Fuentes or some other republican saying something dumb that most people disagree with (racist, pro Hitler, whatever type of remark you can think of) or are just too boring to listen to.

This is something I have against the libertarian party, as they're the third biggest party: dog crap at promoting themselves and absolutely boring (to the point of irrelevancy).

I'm not going to bother talking about which side is ruining democracy or society or whatever, I don't think the average person cares about that stuff and politicians will most definitely not care either. The most important issues to the average is just whatever affects them personally, not society. So issues like te upcoming recession is more important than the next 15-20 years (the next generation).

I don't like any of the parties. I don't like either of the major parties and I don't like any of the minor parties. I used to be a Republican, but distanced myself from that party 25 years ago. I still vote Republican as a lesser of the evils, but I seriously dislike the party leadership and a lot of the people in that party.

Now I'm more like I was back in my hippie days in the early 70s. I was against the government, and didn't differentiate much between the parties. Yes there is a big difference, but they are both so broken that the difference doesn't matter.

That may have been accurate at one point, but that was said thirty five years ago.

The democrats have gone off the deep end. They seem to only care about getting re-elected at any cost. They have given control over to their most radical members and are only interested in pandering for votes.
