Why do you think Indian people are very racist towards black people?

Even in carribean countries where the population is split evenly, many Indian people look down on black people. For example in Trinidad, which has a population of 1.5 million and split pretty evenly between blacks and Indian, many high public officials and professionals are known to have a negative view of black people. Even among interracial relationships, a lot of Indian people disapprove or look down when they see an Indian person going out with a black. On the flip side, Indian people are very warm and welcoming to white foreigners and local Indians in the country.

Why do you think that Indians have a strained relationship towards black people?

The indians in Western countries and Africa and Caribbean are multi generational immigrants who work hard and educated themselves. Indians are currently facing a lot of racism in South Africa and Zimbabwe, they've been there for over 100 years.

YES! From what I'm told! Maybe they've actually changed over the past 30 years but, my ex-fiance said that when she was a little girl, her own family made fun of her because she was so dark back then and said she'd never be able to get a husband because she's so dark! When her step-brother came over here to live with us and go to college in `93, he was making fun of blacks and still using words like, "n**" and we had to tell him that's not nice, over here!
