When I found out everyone was selfish. Kinda relief cuz, it wasn't just me. But too, they the ones who made me want to be better in the first place. Took a long time to find reason in myself to want to be better, no matter if anyone else was or cared or even noticed.

Maybe it was a needed step, the lie. Some shit like the "noble lie" from whoever greek guy. Tell the kid what's good. What to want. Then even if they find out nobody else has it or even wants it, maybe they'll keep looking anyway. I don't know. I like to think there was some meaningful reason to it.
