Do you believe there is other life in the universe?

I am listening to a radio show called Coast to Coast AM that often talks about extraterrestrial life. It is very interesting, but I don't know what's true or what.

I do belive so, the universe is big enough, so that more than once life could evolve like it did for us.
A few things about this though: They may not fit into what we understand mostly as a lifeform e. g. non carbon based lifeform.
Second there is still the possibility that the great filter theory is true and that there are other life forms but they would never be able to contact and or meet each other, because something we dont know yet, 'kills' everything before it reaches interstelllar travel. Normally it doesn't mean something is actively killing them but that something is stopping further survival.

Third maybe even more frightfull theory. There is a part of our observable universe that has for some unknown reason much less stars than it should have in theory. Theoretical a kardeshev type III civilisation could be there, harnessing the energy of all these stars, so their energy signatur doesn't reach us.

Combibing the third and second theory could also mean, that you either become invisible to others before evolving interstellar travel or something is becoming aware of your existence that you dont survive.
All of these are plausible theories in my opinion, in addition to us just being allown and we didn't realise something much more important about our existence than we know atm.

Yes. Because there's two ways this can go.

There is other life out there... and we're not alone.

There is no life out there and we ARE alone.

I prefer the former... because I refuse to believe we're alone with dumbasses.

Ten types of amino acids (which are some of the building blocks of life) have been found on meteors. Tardigrades (aka water bears) can survive temperatures from -150 C (-238 F) to 150 C (302 F), highly radioactive environments, the vacuum of space, and lay dormant for 30-40 years without food or water. Taking all that into consideration, I think it's extremely unlikely there's no other life in the universe. Also, as massive the universe is I think there's probably other intelligent life too.

I think it's likely, even probable, for there to be some sort of life. But I think it's highly unlikely for there to be advanced intelligent life. It's highly unlikely for it to happen once. It's even more unlikely to happen more than once. And saying it's unlikely to happen once is a vast understatement. The odds are so unlikely that it's damn near zero.

I've listened to that before. The thing is, many people have had abduction experiences. And our universe is so vast we have no clue what's out there. It's a scary thought that we are alone out there, but it's also a scary thought that we aren't alone lol

Considering the size of the universe, and the estimated millions of planets similar to Earth, it's reasonable to believe that we are not alone. We may never find out though, because the distances between potential other planets supporting life are so huge.

I think we couldn't possibly be the only life in the universe. So yes I believe there is other life. Not to the extent of our intelligence, but definitely some micro organisms

Ofc. This universe is huge and there are multiple universes out there in an infinite galaxy. I feel you have to be dumb to believe otherwise
