As opposed to just doing what someone else says? A bunch of people did that on January 6th, 2021 and it didn't work out so well for them.

Simply put, because there are many people happy to tell you do something that enriches them while impoverishing you.

Technically no one has their own mind, as humans are social animals.

We tend to work better together, rather than as individuals. But having individual skills and talents is important and builds a sense of personal value and self worth.
