"Former Proud Boys chairman Henry “Enrique” Tarrio and three other leaders of the far-right extremist group were found guilty Thursday of seditious conspiracy in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U. S. Capitol."

Say what you will, he didn't get much accomplished with a majority to write a blank check. Just as Biden has done the same. On that same note you could compare January 6th to the BLM movement, where there is any ideology there will be extremists.
In the future I think it will play out the same way, if the GOP nominates Trump again, he's likely to lose the general election, just as if Biden gets nominated against any opponent other than Trump, he's likely to lose too.

"a majority to write a blank check" Except it was a majority of zero in the Senate (which is 10 votes short of filibuster-proof), which meant he couldn't achieve anything that a single Democratic senator disagreed with (and one of them has dropped the pretence of being a Democrat already).

@goaded Both Biden and Trump had that blank check. It's easy to blame the whole of our current financial woes on Biden, but most people overlook that Covid, lockdowns and the relief started with Trump. Anyway, the job of a politician for as long as I can remember is to protect their donors and do as little as possible while blaming it on the other party and external factors.
We're fighting a proxy war against Russia for that very reason, and I don't believe that the process or outcome there would be any different if it was Republicans in power. Without the military industrial complex way too much of our infrastructure and economy just vanishes, we have to be at war. Ukraine was the first place to come up after closing the chapter named Afghanistan. We'd be in Somalia if they could stir up a large enough conflict and prolong it. Hell, we probably are, just supplying both sides with weapons, and one side with mercenaries acting as kites.

+1 yApplaud? It's another "jimmy cracks corn" moment.
We're waiting for the Biden impeachment... rumors and talk are getting old. Or the next Kamala Harris speech like this one... because we realize she will be our President and needs practice... a lot. She will be our first black, we'll not really black to be honest, kinda mid tone, woman... likely a woman although not sure that can really be defined, inexperienced President that has no business being in the job. I'd vote for @purplepoppy instead eventhough she's too young and English, far more skill.

"We're waiting for the Biden impeachment" you're going to be waiting a long time, because rumors and talk are all the Republicans have. If there was proof of a Joe Biden crime on the laptop it would have come out years ago.
Some Republicans are going on TV and saying how terrible some new documents are for Biden, but they'll have to wait until they've seen them to be more specific! - +1 y

My apologies to all African Americans for "jimmy cracks corn" comment. I had no context as to what it meant other than "it doesn't matter to me, I don't care". I just found the song and it stopped me in my tracks. Wow...

Here's some news from a couple of days ago about the gas pipelines:

@goaded interesting... where did BBC news get this information?
It doesn't make sense.
This does make sense... until proven otherwise...
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/FVbEoZXhCrM
why would russia help the usa in this case, cut off their ability to supply gas... they could just control it or turn it off... they'd have negotiation power.
Absolute and total BS... unless proven otherwise. British intelligence putting out a spin report is just that.

@goaded The story from an actual investigative reporter, Seymour Hersch... got the kabash... squashed.
what you posted strikes me as the first deflection...

nobody knows, but it don't make sense...
and if USA did... it's international terrorism, by definition.
Lets be honest... if Trump was in power, and he ordered that blown up... the left media would be all over it. right? They should be all over this... problem is, they are in the "pocket" of the govt. They won't ask questions...
- +1 y
I have to agree, it would have made sense for the US to blow them up; it took away Russia's capability to entice the European countries that depended on their gas to reduce sanctions and their support for Ukraine. I can't really see up upside for Russia to do it. Unless they thought they could pin it on the US, I suppose.
I really don't know, I expect the truth will eventually come out. - +1 y

@goaded funny enough, it never started... it was a "police action"... sound familiar..."special operation".
My apologies to all veterans of Korea, can't help the sarcasm.
I met a father who was in Korea, damn the crap they lived through. Had to blow a bridge... problem was, it was filled with Koreans fleaing he north. Awful... never got over it...
I gotta pay some respects on Memorial day...
War is terrible, we should all be working to end those and not starting new ones.

@goaded yes, I don't know what started that, but we ended up fighting China. The issue is China. As far as I can tell, we gave up thinking we can control them.. there's a video of Bernard Montgomery talking about how China can't be "beat"... so Nixon/Kissinger cut a deal... to help China build their economy... we sent people in to build their industry, I met some of those people whom are now 80-90yrs old that build their chemical plants. Chinese welcomed them and treated them like kings. We built their economy, to avoid more direct wars. Remember how they think..."it's a dragon"...
It's funny how some people just stay salivating over anything having to do with January 6th. Posting every little thing like it proves everyone who voted for Trump needs to switch sides or be arrested with these handful of people. These people have nothing to do with me, and are no representation of the majority of people on the right. Get a hobby.

The Jan 6th insurrectionists (seven convictions for seditious conspiracy and counting) were representing Trump in his last ditch attempt to steal the presidency. 70% of Republicans (i. e. the majority of the right) still, after Jan 6th and all the evidence that's come out so far, support Trump and therefore his attempt to steal the presidency.
One would expect patriots to stop supporting someone like that. Immediately.
No, the majority of the right are represented by seditionists and their seditionist leader. - +1 y

Here are my own words. There's another version that's better, but I'm not wasting more time on this:
It started with the lies about election integrity, the attempt to claim victory before all the votes were counted, the baseless lawsuits, the forged "alternate slates" of electors intended as a fig leaf to cover Pence simply throwing out states' certified results (the man who came up with the idea himself said it was illegal), and on and on until the final desperate attempt to stop the count by sheer violence (and possibly even kidnapping the VP) on Jan 6th.
Will that do? - +1 y
No they didn't. Remember "Stand back and stand by"? Trump lied to them since before the election (he told the same lies before the 2016 election, supposedly he could only lose if the election was rigged)
I get that people still supporting Trump are ignorant, but supporting the only president in US history not to oversee the peaceful transition of power seems extreme.
The "alternate"/fake electors aren't "feelings", they're criminals. So are the legislators who pretended to believe they were valid. - +1 y
@goaded again, those people chose their actions. They are all adults and did what they did on their own accord. To say Trump called people to violence, without explicitly saying it, yet ignoring the people, like Maxine Waters, who have actually called for violence and harassment just means I can't take you seriously. You base your opinions in your feelings about Trump and people on the right in general. Keep that same energy for those on the left.
- +1 y
Maxine Waters might have called for harassment (aka free speech, protest), never violence.
Did I mention that Trump knew the Jan 6 crowd was armed before he sent them to the Capitol? And that the attack was planned before the day? And that the goal was to stop the count of the electoral votes so that the presidency would be decided by a vote in the House with equal numbers of votes for each state, so a Republican majority? And the attack was needed because Trump hadn't managed to pressure Pence into breaking the law for him? And that 147 Republican lawmakers went along with it? And their justification for not accepting various states' electoral college votes would have been fraudulent "alternate slates" of electors that had been prepared well in advance? And that was only needed because Trump knew he'd lost the election practically on election day?

Good regardless communism is prime example of the far left that people paint as harmless all I said is going to far left is just as dangerous as going to far right
- +1 y
The only two communist countries left in the world seem to be Cuba and North Korea. Not exactly a large bastions of influence. Communism is so 19th century. I realize that for the right wing and for capitalists it remains the big boogie man. But for the rest of us it's just a bad joke.

The Trump supporters won't stop. They need minority rule, as fascists do, and are passing state election laws to make it more likely. Texas just passed a law that only affects the largest county in the state (guess which way that one usually votes). Gerrymandering is rife, thanks to SCOTUS gutting the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder.20 Reply- 4.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

A couple of years ago I decided that I would be more adventurous in my dining choices. I tried blackened Mahi Maki, Peking Duck, and other dishes that people would recommend. . I hated all of it. After a while I felt stupid eating food in restaurants that I did not enjoy and in some cases gave me indigestion
