Why would we worry about Vietnam when we just had Afghanistan and Iraq? We have a Vietnamese community that was made for refugees in New Orleans East. Some of the stories from the ARVN are horrifying. Ironically a lot of the Vietnamese that moved here can't have kids because of STDs from Vietnamese prostitutes too...

Seriously though, unless it's a period of history you're interested in we always have a new proxy war. Vietnam replaced Korea, War on drugs, just cause, desert storm, iraq, afghanistan, now ukraine.

Since the end of WWII and beginning of Korea our economy changed in such a way that if our forever war ends social, political, and economic sectors will be rocked by defense contractors alone.

I've looked carefully at the history of the Vietnam war. It is not from propaganda, that I have concluded that like with Afghanistan we did not belong there. We fought the war in Vietnam to contain communism. But we did not.

I live here in a Patriotic state. Neither Korea nor Vietnam are often discussed. America's war fighting reputation has flagged since WW2. We fought in Korea to a draw and the war has technically never ended. Like in Ukraine, the USA played a pivotal role in stirring up Vietnam after we chose to inherit it from the French. It was the USA and NATO that caused Russia to feel encircled an enemy and to establish its turf in Ukraine. Now we are fighting a proxy war with Russia as we did against them in Vietnam. It demonstrates our our government still is infused (I hate to say this) with Colonialism. We annihilated thousands in IRAQ, been bled of men and equipment in A-Stan and are now scuttling our economy and depleting our "woke" military of equipment and advisers in Ukraine. Like your nation before us, we have our head up our ass and are precipitating our own decline into irrelevance. Maybe Emerging India will do better, but I doubt it. Like British Philosopher Pete Townshend wrote: Meet the New Boss/Just like the Old Boss.
