+1 yNo.
Women aren't oppressed. Quit acting like they are.
When most of the entire recorded history there was no reliable birth control and much of human experience was about survival... what was the purpose of having smaller, weaker women leaving their babies at home so they could go out and build all the buildings and roads and ships and do all of the heavy labor in the farms to grow the fields and fight the military battles for land or protection... etc?
Now that it is modern time and the world is replete with these cushy, air conditioned offices with computers and internet... and men have built the billions of homes and buildings and roads and bridges and electrical power grids and running water systems and they've put their lives in danger to harvest reliable fuel sources to power the millions a machines they've built and they've farmed and produced endless food so anyone can just walk into a grocery full of every food and drink imaginable and now for about 50 or 60 years... out of thousands of years of history women can now take a pill and not have babies, men can medically get a vasectomy or women can medically get their tubes tied and women now don't have to worry about children as much and they can go out... and ignore almost every job that builds a society and makes a society infrastructure work and take tons of office jobs they now want to say they were oppressed for thousands of years because men weren't staying home back in 1644 to raise the babies so that the women could go to university or women could work all day in the sun with plows and tools and animals to be the farmers or build the buildings and houses and cut down and transport the lumber and transport all the food and act as police.
Men were oppressing the women all of those years.
Men were evil all of these thousands of years holding women down.
Now women hate men and cry endlessly how they are being oppressed. They complain that they take lesser paying jobs/careers overall and they work less hours overall, and they work less overtime and they don't take any of the dangerous jobs but then complain that on average they make less money than men. Every time a woman politician doesn't get the votes to win a seat... it was "sexism".
Poor modern women. So, so, oppressed.
There may have been a few nice things feminism has produced. Not everything is bad but overall, feminism has been a negative thing. All the women who think they are victims and who hate men and who think being some "activist is some contribution to the world.
Nah.

+1 yIt is good when it comes to getting women paid the same as men for equal work. It is good when it opens opportunities for women. On the other hand, I think it has gone too far when it tears down men and tries to say both genders are the same. We are not the same. And there is nothing wrong with men and women doing things that please each other in a relationship. Feminists often chastise women for doing anything for the sake of pleasing her spouse or boyfriend.

Asker+1 yYou do understand that the pay gap is just there because men do the more dangerous higher paying jobs

Women used to have jobs and businesses before feminism. The woman who made the disposable diaper is a Marion Donovan is a successful woman before feminism.
When you look at men do you really believe we don't want you to get paid or be successful? Do you think it's in our instincts to sabotage you and ruin your pay check and success? Or you see that most guys don't even care about your job and cheer you on when you succeed?
You think it might be the government or people in power messing with your pay? You know the same people that are telling you we are trying to oppress women or use them for sex? - +1 y
Yes. That is why I stated "getting women paid the same as men for equal work". But I am against hiring quotas.

+1 yat it's core yes feminism is good.
are there those who abuse it? yes.
are there plenty who still subscribe to the proper ideal of feminism? yes
feminism as a concept is perfectly fine, it's all about how one applies feminism
00 Reply 919 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Of course feminism is an important part of society today. Like everything else, it's just gotten too far ahead of itself, and needs to be reworked and refined. I have a hard time believing that anything which increases the power of the female can ever be a bad thing.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yFeminism is good for women. The hatred towards men is a result of the fact that men are responsible for centuries of inequality. It’s hard to escape that fact. Just as with race or sexual orientation, there’s always going to be a grudge against the oppressor.

@Sirenboobzilla it has caused the destruction of the nuclear family which has disastrous consequences: most homeless, criminals, drug addicts, prostitutes, suicides, and mass shooters come from single mother households.
It has also caused an epidemic of loneliness as women become ever more entitled in their demands of a partner (check out the female delusion calculator) which means that most women are competing for a very small segment of the male population, with the rest of the dudes getting nothing. You even have obese baby mommas demanding a guy makes six figures! All these dudes who aren't getting any have zero incentive to contribute to this society and every incentive to bring it down, hence the weekly mass shootings.
It has also destroyed the power of labor by flooding the market with all these extra female workers who would have otherwise been at home and not competing with men for jobs. As the supply of labor goes up the demand goes down and the price goes down as in lower wages, which have been dealing ever since women entered the workforce en masse.
Asker+1 yI didn't even know it was this bad

Cool. So the same way feminazis blame men for all our problems, you blame us for yours.
As a business major who also studied economics, I can smell that bullshit a mile away. We're not to blame for wages. Never really have been. Let's take in to account news articles dating as far back as 1894 that say something very familiar "Nobody wants to work anymore." Sounds relatively insignificant right? Except that's before women entered the workforce. People today complain about not being paid fairly and wages not keeping up with inflation. And when you look at data on wages vs profit, you see a pretty clear pattern of profits at record highs every year, but wages barely increasing with them. We go back to that article, that suggests that wages were shit before women ever entered. Wages aren't what they should be because businesses care more about profits and their shareholders than they do the employees.
Don't be like the feminazis and blame us for your shortcomings. - +1 y
@Sirenboobzilla you didn't refute anything I said, and a random headline from over 100 years ago is meaningless, and your degree doesn't matter because college is a scam nowadays. Companies have always cared more about profits than people, but the power of labor was a counterbalance to that. When feminism broke labour's power by flooding the labor market the corporations began running roughshod over workers. Companies went along with feminism and even pushed it because single career women spend more money than married housewives. This has nothing to with men's supposed shortcomings and everything to do with female entitlement.

The healine is far from meaningless as it's repeated countless times since then. It's been a constant long before women entered the workforce and has been since.
At this point my arguing with you is indeed meaningless. If you'll not accept my credentials and input on the very subjects I studied, then you have nothing of value to offer me.
Do stay happy in that lonely lane though - +1 y
@Sirenboobzilla women like yourself typically use SIGN language when they are losing an argument: Shame, Insults, Guilt, and the Need to be right. Your post is a prime example of that.

You quite literally called my education, and in turn my knowledge and skills, a scam. How exactly would you expect someone who worked their way through their education to react?
Shoo - +1 y
I don't know what world you live in dude, but women aren't the problem. Neither is feminism. I agree with Siren: don't blame them for your shortcomings. It's not their fault for having better qualifications for certain jobs.
Some men are lonely cause they spent no time whole growing up learning the social skills to simply talk to them. Dude, I'm fully as fuck with an average salary and I landed a hot wife. Plenty of us out there.
Stupid ass argument - +1 y
@xamm89 you are a simp here white-knighting for these hoes, it's pathetic. And @Sirenboobzilla your degree is among the most worthless, right up there with communications and gender studies.
