Why is it more common to go barefoot in Asian countries than in the West, where it is quite uncommon? For example, in east Asia it is seen as necessary to remove your shoes when entering someone's home, whereas in a lot of the west this could be seen as rude and far too familiar unless you know them closely. Also, in Hinduism toe rings are common fashion for women and it is necessary to remove your shoes before entering a temple, so it even makes it's way into religion.
