I'm reading the book Rise and decline of the great powers of the Paul Kennedy , do you know it and what did you think?

It made an awful lot of sense to me and it is very well respected plus I enjoyed reading it.

It does have relevance to today's times as China is clearly seeing it self as a rising power and US and the rest of the west as falling powers.

Rather than steel output though I think cyber capabilities are, if not already, the key determinant now and not steel. Hence some recent geopol.

Chip fabrication is incredibly complicated. I watched a video this morning by Asianometry outlining the directions of the next two levels of fabrication. As an IT professional I wish I could say I understood it but I would be lying. It is not going to be given to every country or company to achieve this.

Enjoy the read! I'd give Zeihan's 'The end of the world is just the begining' a thumbs up. An interesting read that I would recommend.

Yeah, it's a pretty favorable book, and an interesting overview of "What happened in 16. century that led the Europeans up and China and India down." Very focused on economics, output, and the impact of the industrial revolution, and the ability to raise funds (and continue doing so) during critical times.
