By dictionary its someone aware of societal issues and injustices.

By use? It was originally that. Term got a bad rep from the people calling themselves woke and basically using it to condemn anyone who thought differently: regardless of their reasons.

So now? To most people its probably a person advocating their own ideas of social justice while condemning everyone else, often violating their own stance in doing so. A close-minded hypocrite wanting an echo-chamber of their opinions.

Its not like the movement was initially bad. It just turned bad by consistently adopting nonsensical stances. As many other movements have. And just as with these other now political terms I'd argue that anyone who cares about their cause rather than political belonging would skip the term 'woke' and argue the cause instead. Its very easy to agree when we skip political affiliations. Awkward how that works.
