This was announced about half an hour ago. I honestly don't know where all these people are meant to go.

I have a feeling Gaza will be buried into the ground. They will do anything to stop Hamas. But what about the hostages also? There is no where for them to go.

This is what the Israelis are doing and why... and it's not at all like what the Soviet Union did right after WW II.

The Israelis want two things:

1. To wipe out Hamas.
2. To create a buffer zone within Gaza that they will control so that attacks against Israel's main cities will be more difficult.

So, they are doing this by forcing the Gazans to evacuate the northern part of Gaza. There is something of a natural border in Gaza called Wadi Gaza. The Israelis want the Gazans north of this border to move south. Then they will attack the north, secure it, and control it until further notice.

There comes a point in the history of a nation in which the people are responsible for the governments they have.

The Gazan Palestinian people let Hamas take over and rule them. They let that happen and should have known what Hamas was likely to do. Patriotism is one thing, but being smart and knowing when to pick and choose your battles is something else. By letting Hamas remain in charge in Gaza and eventually do what they did, the Gaza Palestinian people gave implicit approval. Now, they are paying the price for their lack of self-responsibility.

They should be thankful; there will still be a Gaza that they can live in albeit about 2/3rds the size it was before.

For the Soviet Union, WW II began with the NAZIs invading in 1941. This was after a non-aggression pact was signed between the Soviet Union and NAZI Germany.

Given what the NAZIs did and what Napolean invading Russia in 1812, the Soviets - that is, the Russians - wanted to protect themselves from any more invasions from the west. So, they constructed what would be called "The Iron Curtain" - a collection of countries that bordered or were close to the Soviet Union that were all made into Communist puppet states being dominated by the Soviet Union. In fact, the Warsaw Pact was the Soviet Union's response to NATO, and this solidified the Iron Curtain. But, the point is that these European countries just to the west of Russia formed a giant buffer between any western power and Russia itself. Put another way, Russia could better protect itself by having control and its military in countries to the west of Russia by having any fighting occur in those countries before reaching Russia.

And that's sort of the thinking here with Gaza, Hamas, and the Israelis. Northern Gaza will become the buffer for Israel akin to what the Iron Curtain countries were for the Soviet Union.

Since 2015, the UN General Assembly has adopted 140 resolutions criticizing Israel, and Israel has snubbed its nose at it. It just says "Wadda ya gonna do about it?" And all the while, it continues to get support from the U. S., Germany and the west.

Literally nobody over there wants to take in the Palestinians. If you ever spend some time in a middle eastern country (I saw this especially in Kuwait and Jordan), you'll quickly figure out that there's very much a racial/national hierarchy that varies a bit depending on where you are in the Arab world, and the Palestinians are pretty much at the very bottom regardless of where you go. Egypt is even more strict about blocking off Gaza than Israel is.
