Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIt's a bit early to guess, but I think every blue state would ban him if SCOTUS decides he did participate in an insurrection. IF they decide "the states can decide", I think many but not all will ban him. If they decide "he didn't partake in an insurrection", some blue states will say "Your boy from Texas has suggested we can ignore the Supreme Court, and it's the judgement of THIS state that Trump DID in fact attempt an insurrection and failed to abide by his Constitutional Oath, thereby blocking him.

I foresee the Supreme Court putting a stop to it. And they should. It's funny how the people doing this are the same people who claim they need to save democracy. This is the very opposite of democracy.

I can't figure out your reasoning on this AT ALL. There was an organized attempt to stop the exchange of power, orchestrated by the President of the United States of America and his closest allies. The SCOTUS 5 are bought and paid for by a variety of wealthy interests who care little about the Law or the Constitution. It's clear that he and others violated this amendment. Team Trump admitted as much IPSO FACTO when his lawyers tried to claim he never swore an oath to "support" the Constitution, but rather to "preserve, protect and defend" it. That's just doublespeak; all of those things equate to supporting it. He ignored his oath, he gave aid to the actions.
Section 3 Disqualification from Holding Office
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. - +1 y
@loveslongnails maybe it has something to do with removing someone from the ballot for something they haven't even been charges with, let alone convicted.
- +1 y
He has INDEED been indicted for plotting to overturn the election. The question remains as to whether each state has the right to decide if his actions meet with what the amendment says. Funny how the GOP is all about "states rights" when it come to Roe v Wade, but now they want to a decision from the corrupt, bought and paid for "conservative 5" on the SCOTUS to decide his fate. I'm so sick of that scumbag, but his supporters, after all this time, are even crazier.
You mentioned the "opposite" of Democracy was taking place by removing him from the ballot? He's already said he'd END Democracy as we know it if elected, but that's ok, hmm? Think of it this way - electing Trump again could be the last meaningful election you'll ever have, and that's not hyperbole.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails please show me proofnof that. He absolutely has not been charged with insurrection.
- +1 y
The terminology reads "insurrection or rebellion", if you would bother to READ the amendment. He has been charged with the following:
Conspiracy to defraud the United States
Conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding
Obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding
Conspiracy against rights
Like I said, if those charges don't constitute an "insurrection" to you, or a rebellion in an effort to disregard the Constitution of the United States and illegally stay in power (which by the way IS an insurrection), you can go have lunch with Ginny Thomas.

@loveslongnails they don't. Now, go away.
- +1 y
"They don't" ... and that's why your a cult member. 100% guaranteed, that if Obama or Biden had done these things exactly as Trump did, you would be losing your MIND screaming for his disqualification, and conviction. You're sooo in denial; now go have lunch with the Thomas'.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails and that is where you are wrong. I can see the big picture. Do I like Obama or Biden? No, I don't, but I wouldn't agree with them removing them from the ballot either. It sets a bad precedent, period.
- +1 y
Trump's behaviors over his Presidency and especially his pushing the Big Lie, which he KNEW was bullshit, is what set bad precedent. No single President has lowered the bar of decency and respect like he has, not even Buchanan or Harding who was a huge supporter of slavery. Anyone, from any party, who has done what Trump did, should not be allowed to run for that office ever again.

@loveslongnails your opinion

Additionally, he's been in violation of the Emoluments Act since the day he took office, and he's now enriched himself with gifts from foreign governments beyond any President in history. Yes, he's guilty of that too.
- +1 y
Removing him is the perfect precedent to send the right message.
No, not just my opinion, but 46 of the top Constitutional lawyers in the USA who filed an amicus brief. No, not just my opinion, but the confirmation of his own insider cadre who pleaded out for immunity.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails just because others share your opinion does not chamge the fact that it's just an opinion. You aren't convincing me so let it go.
- +1 y
LOL There's no convincing a person who chooses to disregard obvious facts, like you're doing. It's not my "opinion" that Trump did what he did and it constitutes breaking the law; it's an observable fact. Just because you deny it doesn't change the facts.
That's what the GOP tried to do when they claimed "it was just another tourist day at the Capitol that got a little out of hand". When you observe the thousands of hours of videos, and hear the testimony of Congressmen and Congresswomen running for their lives, you can't credibly deny those acts took place, and/or that it constitutes a riot, and an attempt to block the exchange of power.
But that's what you and others are doing because you choose to. You choose not to give weight to what actually "happened", to the facts of the matter, because you don't want to. You can stop replying as well, because as your name says, it's nothing but "Yeah but.."

That is just silly, because no state can speak for all of it's electorate, and say that political followers of that candidate cannot vote for him.("Because I said so") That is like living in a Communist Block Country. The insanity of what some leftist morons are trying to do is just that! Insane.
00 Reply6.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Impossible to say -- it will go to the Supreme Court. There's a case underway and if convicted I think Trump may be disqualified and the Supremes would uphold it.
