Have you ever been assaulted under color of authority, I mean beaten by a police officer?

As a 20 year old, never in any difficulty with law enforcement, not even a traffic violation, I was beaten in the back seat of a police car, with 3 of Akron Ohio Police officers looking straight ahead ignoring the beating I was taking and never stopping or interfering.

My crime/ my offense? Blowing my horn in a drive in restaurant with a bunch of other 20 something kids. When told to stop and leave the parking lot, I angrily pushed the serving stand /tray back and cause the tray to fall. This thugs hands were shaking uncontrollably, and demanded my license, and I took out my wallet, and handed it to him and then said I would take the license out of the wallet. At that point, this guy commented "you are a smart ass aren't you? and demanded I get out of the car, and pushed me into the back seat of the nearby police car... and proceeded to strike me in the mouth and body repeatedly with the other thugs looking on, with one remarking "You just learned one of the most important lessons of your life" I was released and immediately went to the Akron Police department and filed a written complaint, and waited until they called the "thug' to the station to answer the complaint.

Nothing was ever done, no discipline, nothing, even though I contacted an attorney. The thug was eventually taken off of the street after many repeats of these instances, and placed on a 'bad check desk" - This I heard from a Lieutenant, who headed up "Vice' and was an officer in Akron Sky Divers, of which I was a member.

My point here with this :Police Brutality is real, and something everyone should be concerned about and the "code of silence" is a real problem everywhere. I am not a victim... I graduated from the Orange County Sheriffs Academy in California, and saw instructors that were a disgrace to their uniform

You don't have to be Black or a person of color to be a victim of the 'system' I am as white as rice, and what I described above is true and not embellished on in any way whatsoever

As an addendum to my post, a brother of this 'criminal' was also an Akron Police Officer, and he had killed a black man in the 'Drunk Tank" - by hitting him with a 'sapper glove' and the man falling and fracturing his skull. This is not hear say, this came from the same Vice Lieutenant, who was a detective of long standing with Akron PD.

My reason for posting this, is due to all of the social upheaval and BLM riots, police killings that we have seen over the past several years, BUT, UNDERSTAND THAT I AM NOT TRYING TO JUSTIFY THE MURDER OF POLICE OFFICERS, AND THE BEATINGS THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE, WITH THOSE DOING IT, SAYING IT IS SOME KIND OF IDIOTIC 'PAY BACK' FOR WHAT THEY VIEW AS EXCESSIVE FORCE AND POLICE OVERREACH.
We KNOW it happens, and I for one have seen it first hand. BUT WE NEED TO USE SOME COMMON SENSE ALSO.

Ex girlfriend became a cop she beat me pretty bad with her knife stick on a raid on a party that got out of control, another officer had to drag her away. I'd cheated on her. The cops agreed to drop the charges if I dropped my complaint and I ended up dating her crazy ass again. How the hell is she even a cop lol surely there are psychological tests to pass

Anonymous... certainly there are, but imagine what the system was like when I was 20... you think this asshole was ever 'under review' by his superiors? Those tests, (and I took one) are a joke, believe me.

That doesn't really happen here anymore, even when you try to fight the police, they normally take you down with minimal violence. I have seen instances where police officers were punching or shoving non-compliant people at demonstrations, but I don't think that counts as beating someone up. Normally it's the LEOs that face the most violence and injuries.

@DryGermanGuy I was a really naive 20 year old at the time, and my parents knew nothing about what I should have done and they never offered to support me in any way whatsoever.
Several years later, it became a 'federal' matter, and I was contacted by an attorney in Cleveland, asking me to come forward with my particular case. At the time, I was so disgusted with the whole thing, I did not go forward with it, and... in retrospect, I should have, as this SOB had beaten up several people at that same restaurant on different occasions. It is just sad that this washed up cop, found it necessary to take out his frustrations from his miserable job to take it out on a 20 year old kid, whose "jeans' were too tight for this moron... He died several years later of cancer and I hoped he died in agony... and no apologies from me for saying that.

Yeah, someone picked a fight with me at a party, they called the cops while a few of their friends were hitting me and threw me out. Then one of the cops jumped me in the dark while I was walking to my car, didn't announce himself or anything. I beat him up, then the other police that showed up beat the shit out of me. At that point they were justified.

At no point did they announce themselves as officers, no lights, so I was trying to shoot them as I thought I was getting jumped by someone from the party. Anyway, the guards worked me over some at jail too, mostly because I was still being combative, I was just completely enraged at that point.

The charges wound up not getting filed though, resisting, battery, evading, discharge of a firearm in city limits, there were a couple more, but since I couldn't successfully pull the trigger on anyone while getting pummeled by 3 people it wasn't as bad as it could be.

My lawyer said it was kind of, we'll forget about the criminal stuff as long as you don't sue us. Like they could file the charges later if I sued. It was thoroughly confusing until I talked to my lawyer though, I woke up hurting, scraped and bruised from my hair to my toes with no one being able to tell me why I was in holding. Then got ROR after all that shit.
