Why do people make fun of my situation?

I'm Turkish, and in my country military service is still compulsory. To avoid military service I lied and pretended that I felt like a woman. But my government said that

in that case I would have to take the necessary steps to prove that I was no longer a man but a transgender woman.

There were two options open to me at that point: either I said I'd lied to avoid military service, so I risked prison etc., or I said nothing and became a woman.

And today I follow hormone treatment to become a woman.

But a lot of people make fun of me, because they say I deserve everything that's happened to me.

Just lie again. Say you don't like the changes HRT is causing and it's made you realize you are not a woman after all. Then go do your required military service and be done with it.

Alternatively, how long is the jail time? If it's short, like around 5 years or less, I'd honestly recommend taking that over living a life sentence as a woman.

I'm honestly shocked you live in a place that still has compulsory military service but also allows trans women not to participate. That's wild. Where I live military service is only compulsory in case of a draft, and yet trans women are still mandated to serve in that case (and no medical transition is ever mandatory for trans people, in fact often its quite difficult to get HRT even voluntarily), so your situation would be strictly impossible here.

Do you know Turkey? I found myself trapped because if I said I'd lied I'd have been tried for treason, I'd have gone to prison etc. And believe me, you don't want to go to a Turkish prison.

So I had no choice but to do what was necessary to become a woman. If I'd known the consequences of my lie, I'd never have done it. 😓
